My Power 90 box came late this afternoon. :clap:I guess I need to get some sleep and start in the AM!:D

Take the time to read everything. I truly believe the only way this works is to follow the program. They spent great time and energy coming up with the complete package so try and follow all the instructions. The food part seems to be the hardest for everyone but I truly believe the food part is 85% or more of getting fit.

The problem is we get more hungry when we work out and say "oh well" I worked out. You really just end up killing your progress. But.... you can not run around hungry on this plan either or you will never complete the workouts. Try to eat as much as you can in the top tier of the Micah ladder and you should be fine. Good luck!

I even had a personal trainer(The good ol days). Then the pictures from the trip came back and I was the fat guy in the middle.... I could not believe how my mind had manipulated my head into thinking I was in shape.

I know what you mean. I recently ran a 5K. When the finish line photos came back ---- WOW! I had a "come to Jesus" moment. :bang::bang: My mind had been deceiving me for a while - Finally here was a photo that I couldn't pose for. I apparently know all the best poseing tricks!

Started Weight Watchers this past Friday and will continue my running program. Running another race next week, don't think the photo will be much different. But I am determined that the next one will be!!!

There was a great article in Time Magazine this week about this! It talks about how we often totally defeat the exercise by eating more and moving less after we work out. Gotta stop that!!

So true. One day I went on a 3mile run and wore my watch and cardio belt. When I completed my workout, I had burnt 400 calories. I then turned it back on and spent some time cleaning my boat and straighting out the garage. Another 400 calories burnt doing chores. I think it really is amazing what you can do as long as you keep moving.

Food... another story. I don't drink so it has become something I find very social. I can very easily slip over into eating too much and really kill an entire day of good habits. I have found I have most success if I try to graze all day. Never skip breakfast and go very light on carbs in the evenings. If I ever find myself hungry at any point in the day that seems to be the days I blow my whole plan and eat too much.

I hear ya. I ran the 10K Peachtree Road Race last month. Couldn't believe my photo at the finish.:sosad:

I haven't read Time, but the spin I heard on CNN is that exercise doesn't help you lose weight.:bang:

I bought an 'Iron Gym', the workout bar you hang from you door jam and do pull ups from. It can be an amazing piece of equipment.

In fact, from using it I look so damn sexy that moving past a mirror without an extended glance at myself is damn near imppossible. I think I'm in love :D

But seriously, it has been a good piece of equipment. My back is substantially stronger and healthier. But I have an opinion on getting into shape and I'm sure Bobby J will agree.

Think about it. When we were young and in shape it wasn't because we 'worked out' per se, it was because we played. I'm sure Bobby J owes some of his physical fitness to surfing. But he loves to surf. It's not something he has to drag himself out into the Gulf to do.

Before I moved here I wanted to jog but running around the neighborhood and down streets didn't appeal to me. But here in the state forests where I look for wildlife, it's not exeercise, it's fun.

The same thing with skin/free diving. I absolutely love it and do it virtually every day. I probably went out over a quarter of a mile recently, twice in one day. And even the process of holding my breath to go down has helped my lung capacity and endurance. Now when I ride my bike I am able to sustain a hard, physical 'Lance Armstrong' type peddling for longer periods.

Anyway, that's my two cents. Find something you enjoy and you'll keep with it. And Bobby J, you're already in pretty damn good shape, so I'd definately like to see how you make out with this. Keep us posted.
