It looks like they're either $199 or $249. You also have to pay a monthly fee. There are apps for iPhones and Androids that let you enter what you eat wherever you are. But if you don't have one of those phones (like me), it looks like you have to enter what you've eaten when you are with your laptop.

What I wonder is how extensive is their database of caloriesfor different food items and brands? Do you have to measure or weigh everything you eat in order for it to keep track of your calorie intake? If I make homemade soup, do I have to break it down into separate ingredients for it to know how many calories I've consumed since it doesn't know my recipe?

How do it do dat?:dunno:

You can enter on your computer, that's what I did when I used mine before. Their database is quite extensive. You can add to your collection of items if they don't have your brand's info, you can also build recipes so if you make homemade soup, you can add it in once and use it in the future. Not really how I want to spend my money but it worked really well for me before.

I'm not a fan of sweet potatoes but when I do oven fries with regular potatoes it's really hard to get the right texture on the inside and outside at the same time!

the bodybugg with smart phone app was $245 I think, you can get just the bodybugg for like $175 and sync to your computer. They also have a watch piece that you can buy for like $80 to track thru the day if you don't have ready access to sync at work. I have the watch from my last bodybugg but may go ahead and pay the extra for the phone app, that's on my to do list today.

Thanks! I am going to do a little research to see what app might work on my phone. :D

Thanks! I didn't read this before I posted. I will check the apps for my phone. I hear you on breaking down a recipe, not sure how accurate that would be???

what worked best was to portion it out and then add in all of the ingredients info and divide by the number of portions you made. Other times I measured all ingredients and divided it into cup servings.

Consider using Nutridiary - it is free. IDK if there is an iPhone app for it though.

Nutridiary :: Free Online Diet Diary
About 6 years ago I used a diet website that was really good. They had the calories for everything you could buy at the grocery store plus restaurant calories. They'd also save the calories for your personal recipes. But then they started charging, so I stopped. But at that point I was anorexic and needed to gain weight to avoid looking like a Holocaust victim.

Recently hubby saw an overweight female in SoWal wearing a t-shirt saying, "I survived anorexia."

I wish I could reach a happy medium. Menopause does unimaginable things to a woman's body. Anorexic isn't good, but better than where I am now.

CalorieKing - Diet and weight loss. Calorie Counter and more and LIVESTRONG.COM - Lose Weight & Get Fit with Diet, Nutrition & Fitness Tools both have nutritional info for free

last night I made brown rice into yellow rice with a goya safron seasoning packet, tonight we reheated it and served with low sodium black beans, fajita meat, and baked tortilla chips for me, doritos and flour tortillas and cheese were added for my loser hubby!

Did 3 miles at the gym this am but no return trip tonight-I don't have it in me to fight the Monday night crowds!

I tried quinoa tonight. I bought it pre made from Market Street. It was called Black quinoa citrus slaw. The ingredients were listed as mandarin orange slices, mango slices, purple cabbage, orange juice, snap peas, carrots, rice wine vinegar, green onion, sesame oil, lemon juice, cilantro, ginger, siracha chili sauce and sesame seeds. I'm sure it wasn't as lean as it could have been if I made it at home, but it was really good!! I did not push play today however. I'm not sure if it was the busy weekend, the weather or because it was Monday. I WILL workout tomorrow though!!!!

they had a red quinoa salad today at Central Market-think extra large super delux Fresh Market-I didn't try it but it had herbs, avocado, purple onion and a dressing of some sort-looked good

There is an app for your iphone called tap and track. It costs about 2 or 3 dollars. It has fat and calories for almost any restaurant food out there, as well as food you would buy at the grocery store. You can also enter your body weight and any exercise you did that day. It works pretty good if you use it! I have had mine a year and frankly, I haven't wanted to track my terrible eating habits, but that is going to change!
