Nope, not a letter carrier or a real estate agent.

As a kid I wanted to go live in the mountains like grizzly adams, and I have an uncle who's an amazing hunter. He taught me a lot about getting up close to the critters. The critters though, don't always appreciate the company.

As for the dogs ... I enjoy walking, running, biking, x-country skiing ... and dogs seem to like moving targets (or at least me). Try going for a nice bike ride out in the country, or through some small towns. There are unleashed dogs around every corner.

I hear ya about the rooster. I've had my own incidents. Those things are mean.
Yes, coyotes are just trying to adapt to their surroundings. They do very well in central Denver.

I always had inside/outside cats till we moved here. I am sorry about your lost kitties, it's nobody's fault--certainly not yours.
Our present cat was born here in the woods and tries to get out all the time.

Got pics? :D Or better yet, a snazzy video?

Well here it is, it isn't snazzy video, but a little rough, slightly edited video of our backyard buddies -- http://www.ubu-online.com/backyard.htm

And on another note ... coyotes and panthers aren't the ones to fear, its wild boar and hawks. I've seen stories in the news of a wild boar biting a woman and her dog, and a boy fighting off a red-tailed hawk that swooped down and grabbed his little puppy dachshund. What's next? Little foo foo being dragged away by an armadillo? My wife once had a squirrel climb up her and steal her ice cream cone. And I had a killer seagul fight me for my sandwich. I'm just waiting for the story about the gopher tortoise that attacks a hiker in Pt. Washington.

:clap_1: BFG, I would LOVE to have your backyard!!
I think I may have told the story of "Ginger" the squirrel who lived in my backyard when we first moved to this house. I first started feeding her by hand--pecans. One day when I was sitting in the front yard on my little stool pulling weeds, I felt this furry thing crawl up in my lap--yep, Ginger. From then on, she followed me around the yard like a dog. We continued this routine for a couple of years. Then my neighbor moved off and left her cats, and I adopted them--Ginger moved on. I miss her. :sosad:

We were driving west on 30A last night, and a coyote crossed the road in front of us then trotted up the bike path. It was about 1/2 mile before the 4 way stop at Grayton. It seemed very unconcerned that car headlights were shining in it's eyes!

My neighbor just stopped by to tell me that they saw a HUGE coyote in the middle of the road in front of our house this morning. He trotted into the scrub next door. Wonder where he is now?
