The people spoke,I hope some here and in Washington(Obama) will listen.The democrats had their chance and blew it.You cannot force things upon people they do not wany and expect a rosey outcome.....give the "redneck,teabaggers"(as they are referred to by the tiny,fringe minority here) and republicans a chance before you cast judgement,if they fail,vote them out.....It is still America so far.
I am happy things panned out the way they did, because to me that mean that our economy is on an upswing. I truly believe that McCain was set up to lose because no matter who took office, spending had to happen to avert a Depression.
It will also be interesting to see if the Congressmen and woman that were elected by the Tea Party members can really accomplish anything and won't become beholden to any special interest groups. As an example, some of them are doctors, like Rand Paul and Nan Hayworth, and they are all obviously against Health Care Reform.
From Nan's web site:
I will work to ensure the passage of these measures:
- establish an expert medical-courts system making findings on an objective, not adversarial, basis; providing rational settlements determined by experts and based on true economic loss; and ensuring accountability for negligent providers;
- allow a Federal "safe harbor" protecting providers from liability if they followed accepted clinical practice guidelines;
- pilot "disclosure-and-offer" programs by liability insurers, for selected cases, offering prompt compensation to patients with adverse outcomes.
Not only that, she talks about how Medicare is so wasteful, but then contradicts herself by stating we should use the efficiency programs Medicare and Medicaid have instituted to reduce waste and fraud.
So, it will be very interesting to see if any of these new ideas could bring some compromise to both Houses, but I think many Teaparty members will be sorely disappointed in what their movement will generate. I hope I am wrong, but I live in reality and not holding my breath.
