Right here!
Am I crazy, or am I picking up the same anti-Hillary vent we all witnessed in the primaries in McCain's choice of Palin? I made a joke about this earlier, but in shooting down a woman as a potential V.P. is this America showing it's true colors here?

Gov Palin will certainly get the evangelical vote.
She's all for choice when it comes to teaching Creationism in public schools, but not so much when it comes to women's health.

I think she is an interesting VP choice. I do think her gender has something to do with her being chosen.
When it comes to balancing a budget, well, what's Alaska's budget versus, say,Florida's? What about the depth of McCain/Palin foreign policy experience?
Well, the next few weeks are going to be interesting.
May the best candidate win.

I just read she a strong force in the adoption creationism into the texts of the Alaskan public school system...ho boy...here we go again, science is going to be the bad guy culprit again....why don't we also give the kids abacusses, and let them know that there is also still a distinct possiblity the world is flat as well.

No, we don't need to hear anymore about Ms. Palin, thanks to the media and google we now know volumns (note: Sowal was a third runner up in information gathering). After 12 hrs. from the announcement we now know eveything we need to know.

Let's get back to just McCain VS Obama.

The Sarah Palin Story is over, and Tina Fey and Pricilla Presley are now vying to play her part in the made for TV movie.

Wow! That was the quickest decision I've seen being made on someone who may be the VP of the USA, and you got your information from what source? Come on, at least try to understand something more about here than what a news source might say. I'm sure you are aware of how dangerous a news company can be at building up or breaking down a candidate. How fair would it be for people to throw out Sen Obama from hearing Sean Hannity connect him to the bombing of the Pentagon. There is a connection via Bill Aires, but come on, surely people can do a little research on Weather Underground (not the storm tracker version) and understand, if not agree with, the reasons why Bill Aires took the Weather Underground in a violent path, which was not intended by the founders of the peace movement. Let's wait and see both sides of the stories. Ask a lot of questions. Try to understand the answers.

Personally, I am still undecided in this race. There are parts of both the Dems and Reps with which I agree philosophically, and I try to better understand the parts with which I disagree. That may come off as being negative in my questioning, but for me, that is much better than having blind faith. Blind faith may work for many people. Sometimes we don't have credible facts upon which to base our decisions, and we must rely on gut instinct. However, in a Presidential race, we have much information on which to base our choices. We may have too much information, and need to organize it so we know the important criteria. Sometimes, I tend to believe something just because I read it in a newspaper or on a website, or heard it on TV. Later, when I learn more about the full story, I tend to feel rather stupid for putting so much faith in only one source.

IBD: I am not at the computer I used for my search...I use Lexis/Nexis. ..so, I can't link anything this weekend. You can find a lot if you go to the Anchorage Daily News archives; look on the Alaska legislative site. I have received several emails/statements from the Wildlife organizations...Time and Newsweek have done stories on her; she was featured in Vanity Fair. Chalie Rose did a show with her not long ago that I saw. You can find that online too.
OK GW, i am assuming that Lexis/Nexis is a search engine? I tried to go to the Alaska Legislative site yesterday but it would not load for me. I will not listen to anything about polar bears from WWF or 'save the polar bear campaign' so I need other facts besides their one sided comments. Time? Newsweek? they are one sided as well, IMO. I guess I just have to read everything I can and come up with my own opinion on what I think makes her tick. THanks for the info!!
. Everyone is free to to do what makes them feel "good", but having a 5th child at 44 when you are the governor of a state, and already have 4 offspring seems rather dubious. If you believe God chooses birth defects, well, I can't argue with that. I would not know where to begin. I would love to hear from those in the medical field about the wisdom of producing kids in your mid forties.
OK, Bob, I guess you don't feel bad about your comment and I can live with that. I still think the comment was nasty.

Mr. Bob, At the age of 39 I went to my doctor for an annual check-up only to learn I was pregnant again. I had just had my first child 9 months earlier. I was shocked, worried how my husband would take it, literally an emotional wreck for quite a few weeks. It never entered my mind that I should not have my baby because of my age.
Did it occur to you that while she may or may not have planned to have another child, that's the hand she was dealt and she chose to play it the way her heart led her to play it.

Absolutely correct and congrats. Bob is just looking for anyway to spew his hate. Try not to take offense :D

While I understand why many would find Bob's statement offensive, Palin (and the Republicans) injecting politics into the Palin family's reproductive decisions invites comments like Bob's and others. The decision has been made by the GOP to use the story of the "5th child born at age 44 with Down's syndrome and we chose to keep him", so now it is fair game. That's life on the campaign trail- if your candidate is going to use anything personal, expect some commentary.

I agree, Jdarg, it is poliTRICKS, all is fair game. These people know they will be looked at with super-microscopes. There are at least two ways to look at a 44 year old giving birth to a child with D.S. -- 1) wow, there is a person who is gracefully dealing with the cards which she is dealt; 2) wow, how stupid was she?

It is all in the eyes of the beholder. Most interesting is that adjectives like graceful, stupid, compassionate, dumb, loving, and moronic, can be used to describe one thing. Reminds me of the balance of yin and yang.

Yep to you both. She was vetted along with the rest of them. The "skeletons" do not stay in the closet with Tom Cruise for long.
