It seems like it is easy to do and you are not alone. It always amazes me when we work so hard and then blow it in a few short weeks over our diet. I have finally gotten better after about 5 years of struggling. But... some nights I wake up and the oreos talk to me from the kitchen. I rarely give in these days but sometimes you just got to give in and then understand it is ok. This seems to be the place where people fall off. They just say, oh well I will start next week. Then they never do. You have to make your good diet the normal way of life and the treats the exception. Must people have this theory backwards. They eat good for a few days and they think they should be ready to run a 10k. The issue is that should be the norm. I think when we learn to eat within the healthy lifestyle and know we will have exception we begin to have long term results. A peice of cake is ok. A peice of cake everyday is not so ok.

The older you get the tougher it gets is definately the truth. In my 20's I would always gain 15 or so lbs. in the winter and then throw off 20 lbs in a month during the summer. As I reached my 30's this stopped happening. I have had to do things to make my metabolism stay healthy. Diet, water consumption, stretching and exercise all must be combined to maintain a healthy weight. Now that I am within a couple of yrs of 40 it gets tougher to withstand prolonged work outs and cardio bricks. My knees and shoulders definately took too much abuse in my younger days. I am amazed at the older elite athletes out there in all sports especially tri junkies. I trained for a mini tri for about 3 mos. before a shoulder injury stopped me and it is a tough deal.

Day 20. Kempo tonight! Then rest day falls on Saturday!!!!!! Yeah! Anyone still on board?

I had every intention of re-starting on 10-1 but my health didn't cooperate. I was quietly waiting to post until I really did restart.

Things are still not quite right for me but I'm in a good mental place so I'm going to start today at my slow, lots of rest pace. I'm really kinda looking forward to it. :D

I really appreciate everyone still posting, particularly you Mr. Bobby J the P90X-pert! It is inspiring and just a little bit guilt inducing!

True dat on the guilt inducing. I hate having nothing to report.
I had a great trip to Bham and spent the evening with my old training partner, it killed me to see how far as he gone as he continued to train while I ground to a halt and let my "other life" take over. :bang: Playing on the softball has also been a real motivator. If I were in better shape I wouldn't pull any muscles making that jump to run to third.

The weekend is being spent getting all of my "other life" in order (and unpacked) so I can have a calm, quiet, decluttered space to workout Monday.

The guilt is self induced/self inflicted, you didn't cause it, I promise. I nearly cry every time I see someone running 30A because I'm not out there. My fault, not theirs or yours.
Sorry you are all tweaked up. Nice and slow coming back. Definitely with spinal and neck stuff you have to keep moving when you are hurt just more gingerly and at an easy pace.

I am back at it. Neck still stiff but had to just modify. I think when I rest too much it gets worse. Push on and push play! Day 22 today. This will be 30 day week. It is really hard but you just modify if it is too much. I already feel a huge difference. I can not imagine at the end of this how good I will feel. Bev is doing great as well. She had a little setback early on with the flu but has already gotten back on track. She has a six pack and almost 40 years old!!!!!! :yikes:

Today is stretch day.... this is the recovery week. It is still strenous but no heavy lifting. More cardio and yoga. what a program, I highly recomemnd it but do power 90 first. This one will make walking painful if you are not ready. Today is day 25 and I feel like I may make it through this thing!:D

I have not gotten into the Push Play habit yet. I am hoping it is only due to trying to get settled in and finding so many more things that I need to be expending energy on. The days I have made it to the button have made me realize that I have made a couple of steps backwards and will have to build up again.

However, top tier eating is going so well. After a week of loving roasted veggies, brown rice, quality protein, and less processed junk I am feeling much better. I don't think I realized how much I was letting all of my teenaged eaters negatively impact my traditionally healthy diet.
A better diet is definitely making it easier to get motivated to get moving.
The cool weather coming in is helping a lot too!
