Oh, SS, you lucky gull--you've eaten there? No fair. Tell me what you love about Anguilla; I want to hear all about it.

Oh, we love Anguilla....the only OTHER beach I would even want to see other than SoWal. Been twice...last time was this past April...we stay at the Malliouhana on Meads Bay. It is not a lush island, but has the most beautiful beaches and water. Very underdeveloped (so far) and incredible people and food. Not too much to do other than sit on beach, have drinks brought to you and read!! Blanchard's is good, but there are even better restaurants! We meant to ferry over to St. Bart's, but decided...nah!

I just received an email from my friend that lives on the sailboat....they are going to Anguilla from St. Martin this week!!!

Another book of Krakauer's to read is Under the Banner of Heaven, his look at the LDS church and it's fundmentalist underbelly. Great read.

The couple with the restaurant on Anguilla wrote a cookbook, which is excellent. We also like the cookbook published by the editors of "Coastal Living" magazine.

I am reading two non-fiction books right now, both excellent. One is entitled "Collapse," the story of how civilizations such as Easter Island and the Mayan culture flourished and then disappeared. The other is "Ice," which is all about...ice, its many forms and functions. Sounds like a snoozer, I know, but is absolutely fascinating.

I liked all of Jon Krakower's books. "Under the Banner of Heaven" is one you cannot put down. Krakower has the uncanny ability to focus upon the most incredibly unlikely situation and, step-by-step, make it seem completely plausible, if not inevitable.

But my all-time favorite non-fiction book is entitled "Italian Days," by the late Barbara Grizzuti Harrison. It's the story of a woman who takes a trip through Italy with her daughters, in search of her heritage. Beautifully written and makes you feel as if you are standing next to the author in every place.

Into Thin Air had it's share of controversy. there was a lot of back and forth regarding who's account of the story was more accurate.

another good read i just finished a little while ago is A Million Little Pieces by James Frey. he's getting some heat, since some of his facts have turned up discredited, but of course have enhanced sales
