The couple with the restaurant on Anguilla wrote a cookbook, which is excellent. We also like the cookbook published by the editors of "Coastal Living" magazine.
I am reading two non-fiction books right now, both excellent. One is entitled "Collapse," the story of how civilizations such as Easter Island and the Mayan culture flourished and then disappeared. The other is "Ice," which is all about...ice, its many forms and functions. Sounds like a snoozer, I know, but is absolutely fascinating.
I liked all of Jon Krakower's books. "Under the Banner of Heaven" is one you cannot put down. Krakower has the uncanny ability to focus upon the most incredibly unlikely situation and, step-by-step, make it seem completely plausible, if not inevitable.
But my all-time favorite non-fiction book is entitled "Italian Days," by the late Barbara Grizzuti Harrison. It's the story of a woman who takes a trip through Italy with her daughters, in search of her heritage. Beautifully written and makes you feel as if you are standing next to the author in every place.
