It's like SHOPPING!!! I put books in my basket. I pick them up. I take them back USED!!!!:rotfl: It's like touching and wearing but not buying. When I picked up my books, Kate grabbed "Walter the Farting Dog"- can't wait to read that! Especially after the schmarmy-marmy behind me in line saw the title and pursed her lips! Poot on her!

Michigan but someday in SoWal as well
If anyone wants to see Thomas Friedman, author of the Best Seller, The World is Flat (about how technology and globalization are flattening competition), just google "The World is Flat MIT video" and you should be able to link to a free one-hour video offered by MIT with the author of the book. Excellent summary of the book. He's somewhat entertaining as a speaker. Useful for people in business/economics or kids who are thinking about their future in a global and technology driven world.

MIT has put many of their course materials online for free, including videos.

Oh, jdarg, you are my soul sister! You're making it harder and harder for me to consider any other week in June than the one when you'll be in SoWal...!
We have the "Walter" book! Of course, the kids love it, and I'm the lip-purser in my house! :lolabove:

I have that book and it's a good read. She's really very down-to-earth and matter-of-fact about diet, life, the whole shebang. I enjoyed the book! Don't know about the cabbage soup recipe, though.

Mine too. We went to the Veuve Cliquot champagne cave in Reims. Of course everyone got free champagne, but we bought some too.
Audie, you might be interested in the nonfiction I posted earlier in this thread, the Wine book. It was pretty interesting reading about how the French winemakers dealt with their predicament during WWII.

if i was ever lucky enough to go to a veuve cliquot champagne cave - i would never leave - ever ever ever !!! i like dom perignon too, but something about the veuve just turns my crank - it's like mother's milk to me !!! i will check out the wine book too ! the only bad thing i have noticed is the terrible hangovers from champagne, supposedly from the carbon dioxide in the bubbles - that is the only alcohol i get hangovers from, and they are hellacious - but worth it ;-)
