International Coastal Cleanup Sep 16

The Walton County Tourism Department, along with the Friends of South Walton Sea Turtles, will once again host an International Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 9 – 11 a.m.

Residents, students and visitors are encouraged to participate in the world’s largest volunteer effort with the common goal of cleaning up our coastal waters for our ocean’s health. Volunteer Beach Ambassador teams will be hosting teams at five South Walton regional beach accesses listed below:

    Inlet Beach Regional Access, 438 S Orange St. Center, Inlet Beach
    Santa Clara Regional Access, 3468 E Scenic Hwy. 30A, Santa Rosa Beach
    Ed Walline Regional Access, 4447 W Scenic Hwy. 30A, Santa Rosa Beach
    Dune Allen Regional Access, 5999 W Scenic Hwy. 30A, Santa Rosa Beach
    Miramar Beach Regional Access, 2375 Scenic Gulf Dr., Miramar Beach

Participants can choose to count their collected debris via the Clean Swell App, available through both the App Store and Google Play. Volunteers may sign in with a Beach Ambassador to ensure that service hours are tracked and counted if needed.

Information about the types of debris collected are communicated to the Ocean Conservancy’s global ocean trash database. This information will provide valuable data to experts and educational programs that work to address the ever-growing problem of ocean litter.
