February 5, 2013 by Teresa Lischka

Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler as The Merchants of Seaside host a fun-filled day of Mardi Gras activities for everyone on Sunday, Feb 10.

Children are invited to start early at Seaside KIDS store at 12:00pm to make masks and other creative crafts to get into the mardi gras spirit. At 2:00pm, everyone is encouraged to join in the Seventh Annual Seaside Kids Mardi Gras Parade featuring the Krewe of Wee-De-Leis. The parade starts at Seaside KIDS in Central Square and winds through the businesses around the square and along the south side of Scenic 30A before heading back to the starting point. Wear your costumes and be prepared to march and dance through the streets!

After the parade, head down to the amphitheater at 3pm to see a special performance by Sunpie Barnes & The Louisiana Sunspotsguaranteed to get you up on your feet and dancing!

Bruce Sunpie Barnes is a veteran musician, park ranger, actor, former high school biology teacher, former college football All-American, and former NFL player (Kansas City Chiefs). Sunpie Barnes' career has taken him far and wide, and he has traveled to over 35 countries playing his own style of blues, zydeco and Afro-Louisiana music incorporating Caribbean and African influenced rhythms and melodies.
