It's Time to Grab Some Food and Hit the Beach

March 27, 2020 by SoWal Staff

Life at the beach is all about a having a free spirit and free time. It’s a place we celebrate by having our toes in the sand and not in the kitchen. Let us share just a few of our favorite places you can go to grab everything you need for lunch on a blanket or dinner on the porch. These grab it and go possibilities make the old time soggy sandwich picnics a thing of the past.

Modica Market
Modica Market in Seaside has become an icon of the area. People seem to make it a stop on their annual trip to the beach.  It’s the perfect place to line the family up at their counter for fresh deli selections, chicken salad, lemon meringue pie, chilled beverages and so much more. This gourmet grocery with Southern hospitality is family owned and operated with heart and determination to deliver the finest foods.

the Melt Down on 30A
Located in classic Airstream in Seaside, the Melt Down on 30A has taken the classic American grilled cheese and amped it into something marvelous (okay, even more marvelous than a classic grilled cheese). You get to choose from a menu of grilled sandwiches of gourmet cheeses, ham, meatloaf, tomato or turkey. Everything is beautifully and substantially wrapped for safe beach bag carrying.

Seacrest Sundries
Don’t let the blue awning announcing Seacrest Sundries confuse you. Not only do they have all the necessities of a sundry shop but this little grocery also offers yummy American favorites you don’t see every day.  Walk in with your picnic basket and let them fill it with chicken or tuna salad, nekkid wings, fried bologna sandwiches and more.  If you’re headed out early, they can also take care of breakfast for you.

Sunrise Coffee Co
The latest and greatest addition to Gulf Place is the Sunrise Coffee Co. Located just steps to the beach, it’s a fabulous place to start your day with fresh food and a super fun atmosphere. They make eating on the go easy by focusing on wraps that include turkey avocado, club sandwiches and quesadillas. When the sun has become too hot, let them cool you off with a milkshake, ice cream, snow cone or smoothie.

For The Health Of It
Sometimes the heat of the day makes you just want to keep lunch light. A perfect way to keep it both light and healthy is with a fresh made-to-order concoction from the juice and smoothie bar at For The Health Of It in Blue Mountain. Add protein powders, vitamins and even green foods to drinks that boast names like Strawberry Fields Forever, Tropical Breeze and Blue Mountain Blizzard.
