You no longer have to be a real estate tycoon to own an entire exclusive beach town like Seaside, Rosemary Beach or Alys Beach. Just roll the dice and buy your favorite SoWal beach town with fake money, then charge everybody rent. Roll again, pass Go AND collect $200!
Beginning this month, beach lovers will have the opportunity to become South Walton’s next sand baron with the launch of the official MONOPOLY® game from Hasbro and 30A Games.
Alys Beach is truly one of the most beautiful coastal towns in Florida but did you know about the nature preserve situated on the northern portion of the community? What a perfect time of year to get outdoors and explore one of South Walton's hidden gems.
Mark your calendar and plan to join eco-tour guide Snookie Parrish for a nature hike through a wetland preserve and trail at Alys Beach! Tour dates are set for March 12, March 19, March 26, and April 2 from 1-2pm. Wear comfortable shoes and meet at Fonville Press to begin your adventure.

A record crowd of more than 2,000 gumbo lovers turned out on a cool but sunny Florida day for the 24th annual Sandesatin Gumbo Festival at the Village of Baytowne Wharf. Eighteen teams competed for prizes in several categories.
The Waylon Thibodeaux Band played zydeco music while the crowd kicked up their heels and relaxed on the lawn.

We've been following our friend, filmmaker Elam Stoltzfus' journey over the past year on his travel along the length of the state on the Florida Wildlife Corridor Expedition. Elam is hard at work editing the documentary and this movie trailer is the first look. It's fantastic and we can't wait to see more.
The world premiere is Sunday, March 3, 2013 in Tampa

A loving and quick look back at last month's 30A Songwriters Festival.
The 2013 30A Songwriters Festival was held on a perfect SoWal weekend. Sunny skies and mid-seventies greeted songwriters and fans on Sunday. Indoor and outdoor venues up and down Scenic 30A were filled with music lovers and writers who perform their own music, and performers who write their own songs.
The SoWal.com staff was out in full force capturing images, notes, and memories of a wonderful music-filled weekend.
