March 10, 2020 by SoWal Staff
We know how you feel! It's hard to keep up with everything happening in SoWal. Even if it's all in one place like Grand Boulevard at Sandestin.
Joining the recently opened lululemon and Kittenish by Jessie James Decker, Southern Tide will open in 2020, bringing its coastal lifestyle apparel brand that embodies a Southern state of mind and adventurous spirit. Southern Tide is best known for its Skipjack Polo, deemed by many to be the most comfortable premium polo shirt. Innovative, yet timeless in its youthful style, Southern Tide offers an array of apparel and accessory products for men, women, and kids that deliver their authentic lifestyle through quality, experience, and service.
Black Bear Bread Co. will open a second location, the popular Grayton Beach eatery will start operations at the Hyatt Place Sandestin at Grand Boulevard soon, bringing the total of casual and fine dining restaurants in Grand Boulevard to sixteen. Grayton Beach’s beloved neighborhood bakery and all-day seasonal café will offer convenience for their customers living in Sandestin, Miramar Beach and Destin.
“The outdoor seating area will provide al fresco dining comparable to the sidewalk cafes of New York and Paris, and customers can expect the same quality and experience they are accustomed to at the Grayton Beach café with a few new twists,” according to Phil McDonald, Black Bear Bread Co. executive chef and co-owner.
Two of Grand Boulevard’s most popular, award-winning annual events take place in April and May. The South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival, April 23 – 26, will offer a vast selection of more than 600 wines from around the world. The festival is known for hosting nationally and internationally well-known wine celebrities and 2020 is no exception with Alessia Antinori of Marchesi Antinori pouring her family’s iconic wines and Jackson Family Wines presenting wines from around the world.
In its 32nd year, ArtsQuest Fine Arts Festival takes place in Grand Boulevard each Mother’s Day weekend. Produced by the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County, ArtsQuest provides an opportunity to view and purchase original art from over 150 artists from around the country while also experiencing live musical entertainment, ImagiNation for kids, student exhibits and great food & beverage options.
Other spring events include Purses with a Purpose benefiting Shelter House, the production of “Maytag Virgin” by Emerald Coast Theatre Company, Doggie Eggstravaganza benefiting Dog Harmony, and the annual Cinco de Mayo celebration in partnership with Cantina Laredo Modern Mexican.
Grand Boulevard’s Farmers’ Market is open year-round on Saturdays, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Grand Park. This outdoor market features dozens of unique vendors offering mostly locally sourced food-based items such as produce, eggs, olive oils, specialty honey, pickled vegetables, sweets, gourmet jams and even homemade doggie treats. Specialty soaps and lotions are also sold.
These events are presented as part of the Coastal Culture Series made possible by the Grand Boulevard Arts & Entertainment Program. For more information about Coastal Culture, please visit our website at GrandBoulevard.com.
