Author Chris Crowley Kicks Off Aging in Place at Seaside Institute Nov 21-22
November 6, 2015 by SoWal Staff
Chris Crowley, author of Younger Next Year and Thinner Next Year, will be in Seaside November 21 and 22 to kick off the Seaside Institute Aging in Place program. A book signing, lecture, bike tour and reception are planned. Don't miss this chance to learn about the best way to approach the "Next Third" of your life.
Chris Crowley will speak about the fundamental science that is the basis for the Revolution in Aging at a lecture on Saturday, November 21 at 3:00 p.m. in Seaside’s Assembly Hall, 168 Smolian Circle. Tickets for the lecture are $40. Later that evening, a “meet and greet” with Crowley will take place at the home of Seaside Institute board chair, Beverly Walters. The reception, which costs $100, will begin at 7:00 p.m., and Cava and tapas will be served.
A book signing with Chris is being held at Sundog Books on Saturday from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.
On Sunday, Chris will lead a bike tour, $40/person and limited to 12 people, along the Scenic Hwy 30A bike path. Packaged deal for all events are available for $150. Funds raised will benefit the Seaside Institute.
Crowley is the co-author (with leading New York internist, Harry Lodge M.D.) of Younger Next Year, a New York Times best-selling guide to “living like 50 until you’re 80 and beyond.” Crowley and Lodge went on to write Younger Next Year for Women, Thinner This Year and, due out in December, Younger Next Year: The Exercise Book. With over a two million copies sold, the books have become the boomer’s bible on matters of fitness, fun and the committed life.
According to Crowley, there is amusing (and un-scary) advice about physical exercise. He will also talk about the social side of the Next Third of your life and give advice about putting in place programs and activities that can make retirement fun and interesting. There’s some useful talk about your “limbic” or emotional brain and some discussion about the importance of “connection and commitment” in the Next Third, including your approach to diet and health.
These events are being sponsored by The Seaside Institute, which is dedicated to the restoration of civic life by fostering education, cultural activities and the arts within Seaside and the surrounding area.
