Calling All Builders - Cottages for Kids Needs You

August 27, 2012 by SoWal Staff

Wait til you see all the joy on the kids's faces. Cottages for Kids at Rosemary Beach is so fun and rewarding. Builders and architects are needed to chip in and help build childrens' smiles. Not only in the regular smiley sense but also helping make kids' smiles better through free dental care.

The Children’s Volunteer Health Network (CVHN) is once again hosting their unique fundraising event November 9-24, 2012.  Now in its fifth year, the annual Cottages for Kids takes place on the East Long Green in Rosemary Beach. The SoWal.com-sponsored event provides an uncommon opportunity for builders and architects to use their talents and creative imaginations to construct and decorate whimsical and quirky cottages that look like they came out of child’s dream fantasy.

CVHN also hopes to educate the community about the benefits of ‘green’ building techniques to promote healthier environments for our kids. The designs will be “earth friendly and kid approved”. The cottages are donated for the event and raffled, with all proceeds benefitting Children’s Volunteer Health Network.

CVHN is a faith based, 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that seeks to enhance the lives of uninsured and underinsured children by facilitating free immediate access to medical, dental and mental health care. Through their efforts, they have made over 7000 appointments, and have over 90 medical, dental and mental health providers who see these children at no cost.

CVHN is reaching out to the community with a call for builders, architects and designers to come together for this worthy event to help raise funds and awareness for children in need. In return, CVHN will help promote your business as much as possible throughout the Cottages for Kids event. If you are not a builder, but would like to help out, you or your business can team with a builder and donate funding or sponsor a builder/architect team.

If you would like to participate or know someone who might be interested, please contact Zach Billingsley with CVHN at 850-622-3200, extension 102, or email at zach@cvhnkids.org. The builder entry form due date is September 21, with renderings due September 28. Please consider getting involved and showing your support for underprivileged kids in Walton and Okaloosa counties that need our help.
