Local Catch Bar and Grill Offers New Menu and Entertainment
November 26, 2013 by Jill Tanner
Local Catch Bar and Grill won over South Walton locals and visitors the day it opened back in 2012. Owners Adam Yellin and Jimmy Hasser recently decided it was time to “beef up” the menu. Since opening their second location in Tuscaloosa, AL, they have been back and forth quite a bit. Now that both locations are settled in, they can come back to the beach for a while and focus on the South Walton location.

“We decided to play with some new things for the season,” Adam told us, “and get back to our roots with simple, fresh food.”
Last week the SoWal.com staff had the pleasure of sitting down with Adam and Jimmy to try some of the new items. Adam, the executive chef, brought us the Potato and Bacon soup first. He told us he doesn't want the soups to overwhelm with one flavor, but instead let all the flavors come through. The soup was perfect, with a little spice and great flavor. It warmed us right up. It was also gluten-free, which most of the soups at Local Catch will be.
After we devoured the soup, we had the Local Catch Tossed Salad with Romaine lettuce, applewood bacon, pineapple salsa, and white sauce. The sweet and savory flavors complemented each other nicely. We were already impressed after the salad, but there was more to come. A lot more.
My personal favorite was the Prime Rib French Dip sandwich. The juicy prime rib, the melted swiss cheese, and the soft ciabatta bread were just asking to be dipped in the savory au jus. I could’ve eaten the whole thing, but I had to save room for the Braised Pork Belly and grits that followed. There are not enough adjectives in the world to describe to deliciousness of this dish. The pork belly is seared on the flat top, braised in Coca-cola, and then smoked over applewood, bringing it to perfection. Then, the braising liquid is used to make the sauce. This savory dish is paired perfectly with grits and sautéed spinach. (Featured in top photo).
The last dish that came out was the House Cut Ribeye. The seasoning for the ribeye is simple – just salt and pepper. This allows for the true flavor to come out. It was perfectly cooked and we all fought over who got the last bite. The ribeye comes with a double-stuffed potato and broccolini, which is sure to cure anyone’s meat and potato craving.
Local Catch is also known for its Sunday Funday throwdowns. There is always a great band from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and the place is bursting at the seams with music and food lovers. Local Catch is also a popular place to watch football, because of the eight flat screen TVs and the NFL Ticket. Catch your next big game at "The Catch"!
Local Catch offers great specials throughout the week including $5.00 you call it liquors, $5.00 wines, and $2.00 draft beer every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. Every Tuesday is taco Tuesday with $3.00 shrimp tacos. Take advantage of half-priced appetizers on Wednesdays. And on Saturdays all day and Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m., get wings for just .75¢ and $2.00 draft beer.
Everything at Local Catch is always fresh. That is why we all love it so much. Local Catch is consistently delicious and fresh, making it my go-to place for lunch, dinner, and happy hour. Make it your local hot spot for the best in food, drink, and entertainment.
