Dedicated to serving amazing food for the most important meal of the day, some of our favorite SoWal beach restaurants are rising to the occasion. Our latest SoWal List includes seven you must set your alarm to try - one for every day of the week. You’ll be glad you did!
Great Southern Café is aptly named, but boy are their breakfasts something special. Whether you’re craving something sweet like airy house-made beignets, something rich and filling like Crab Cakes and Fried Green Tomatoes or wish to order their healthful Veggie Frittata as a lighter option, the morning menu is always great and it is always Southern. Seaside. 8 am to 11 am daily.
Sometimes the happiest hour of the day happens at sun up! Especially so if you choose Bud & Alley’s for breakfast. Their innovative menu includes Duck Confit Hash served with pan-crisped potatoes, frisee and red peppers topped with a fried duck egg. Or take their Porchetta, roasted pork, a fried egg and melty provolone on toasted Asiago bread. This is not your typical breakfast sammie. Seaside. 8 am to 11 am daily.
At all of their locations, Another Broken Egg brings diners tons of choices for jump-starting their day. And their health-conscious breakfast offerings are never status quo. Try the Granola, Fruit & Quinoa bowl made with house made honey-roasted granola, quinoa, strawberries, blueberries, toasted coconut, bananas and served with coconut milk. So filling and so very yummy! Grand Boulevard. 7 am – 2 pm daily. Grayton Beach. 7:30 am – 2 pm daily.
From Rosemary to Seagrove, Cowgirl Kitchen is wrangling up some tasty chow for breakfast. You’ll definitely fall fast for The Heartache – homemade pimento cheese and sweet and smoky praline bacon served on a biscuit. And their Breakfast Tacos made with flour tortillas and scrambled eggs are available with chorizo and cheddar or a vegetarian-approved version with spinach and feta. Seagrove. 7:30 am – 2 pm daily. Rosemary Beach. 8 am - 2 pm daily.
From ham to sausage to, yes, beloved bacon, pork pairs beautifully with breakfast. The Perfect Pig showcases this most-revered protein in any number of tasty ways. Whether you order the parmesan-encrusted breakfast grilled cheese with cheddar, Applewood bacon, and 2 eggs or their flaky croissant filled with spiraled cut ham and apple butter, they will surely make you want to pig out. Seagrove and Gulf Place. 8 am – 11 am daily.
If you love the beach, then you could fill up on the view alone. Take in the sunshine and morning breeze while breakfasting outdoors on Fish Out of Water’s deck overlooking the dunes and the Gulf. Offering a la carte dishes such as their exquisite Emerald Coast Shrimp and Grits made with jumbo gulf shrimp, a poached egg, tomato gravy, scallions over creamy grits, as well as delicious buffet options for both children and adults. WaterColor 8 am – 11 am daily.
Marie’s Bistro offers a satiating menu of guest favorites, like tender biscuits and gravy and creatively inspired quiches and omelets. Don’t miss their extra-special menu for Sunday brunch including bottomless mimosas and a Bloody Mary bar with all the fixins. Marie’s Bistro makes breaking fast fun! Blue Mountain Beach. Thursday – Saturday. 7:30 am – 2 pm.
