Special Weddings and Events Happen on the Bay at 331 South

November 20, 2014 by Manny Chavez

Jim Shirley is one of the busiest restaurateurs in SoWal with the recent opening of 331 South, a full-service event venue located on the Choctawhatchee Bay across the street from his newest restaurant - The Bay. Chef Jim also owns and operates Great Southern Café and The Meltdown on 30A, both in Seaside. All of his South Walton venues are hopping with his eclectic flair for food.

With the holiday season nearly upon us, 331 South is currently offering local
businesses a free venue as an incentive to book their festivities.

331 South, with its bayfront location, offers a unique waterfront experience for weddings, receptions, parties, celebrations, or any special event. With expansive covered and open decks, and a alarge indoor dining area, the venue can accommodate both small, intimate gatherings and larger weddings & events.

Owner/Chef Jim Shirley is the exclusive caterer for events here. Carley Hubbard, wedding and special events coordinator, is busy booking events for the coming year. She takes care of all inquiries, books vendors, and also design work if needed.

“We offer Jim Shirley’s catering company….having his food is the number one reason to book with us," Carley says. "Joyce Russell serves as our catering chef and we have added the great Sandor Zombori to our cadre of chefs.  Add to that our unique location across the street at The Bay restaurant and we can host weddings and events, making use of both facilities. For instance, we can have the rehearsal dinner across the street at The Bay, and then the wedding and reception here. We have lots of parking at both locations. We are good to go with both indoor and outdoor, making us weather safe in the event of rain.”

One of Chef Jim's signature dishes is Grits a YaYa - it often appears at events, served in little martini glasses and they are a big, big hit.

“Certainly there are numerous destination weddings taking place annually along the Emerald Coast, but we offer an alternative waterfront wedding location here on the Bay, either surrounded by greenery or on one of our expansive decks. Brides and event coordinators love to have the choices,” says Carley. “We are also renting our bay house right next door, providing yet another reason to book with us.”

Come rain or come shine, 331 South is open for business…call 850-267-0240 for reservations and information.

331 South was formerly Bentley's on the Bay (weddings and events venue), and before that The 331 Cafe'.
