Stinky's Kicks Off Beach to Bay Tournament with Oyster Festival Oct 4

September 26, 2014 by SoWal Staff

Stinky's Bait Shack is busy planning for their first annual Stinky's Beach to Bay, Grand Slam Fishing Tournament coming up Oct. 4 through Nov 15, 2014. To kick off the tournament, Stinky's Oyster Festival will be held next door at Stinky's Fish Camp on October 4 from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Stinky's Oyster Festival will feature oysters prepared all ways all day along with cooking demonstrations, paddle board races on Lake Allen, casting competition, oyster shell painting contest, live music and oyster shucking contest. Everyone's invited! Come out and celebrate the fall season with the whole South Walton community and help kick off the fishing tournament. The party continues into the night with The Steenos and Washboard Jackson (6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.) followed by Boukou Groove (9:00 p.m. to midnight).

Fall is the perfect time for locals and visitors to come out and enjoy some fishing on the Choctawhatchee Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. October and November months are the most beautiful time of year here on the Emerald Coast, at least according to many South Walton beach lovers!

"The Fishing Tournament and Oyster Festival is a way for Stinky's to bring the community back together after a great summer season", said Chef Jim Richard.

To win the grand prize ($1,000), the tournament requies an individual anger to catch and score a red fish, speckled trout and a flounder. The calcutta categories also include pompano and biggest individual fish scored for each species.

Participants of the fishing tournament can register at the Oyster Festival or online at stinkysfishcamp.com. Registration forms and a copy of your fishing license must be submitted 24 hours prior to your first weigh-in. Weigh-ins begin Oct. 5 at 8:00 a.m. through November 15 at Stinky's Bait Shack. Participants are required to abide Florida Wildlife Commission (FWC) fishing regulations.

Follow Stinky's Bait Shack's Facebook page for weigh in photos and updates throughout the tournament.
