The CVHN Big Give: Caftans & Cocktails at Bud & Alley's Sep 28

September 25, 2018 by SoWal Staff

The CVHN Big Give: 2018 Caftans & Cocktails will take place Friday, September 28 from 6:00pm til 10:00pm at Bud & Alley's Restaurant in Seaside with all proceeds benefiting Children's Volunteer Health Network (CVHN). Formerly known as the Hurricane Party, this event is in its fourteenth year, and in 2017, it raised over 62,000 dollars to put towards CVHN’s mission. Tickets available online!

The CVHN staff and board agreed that this was an appropriate time to bring a new spin and focus to this well-attended fundraiser.

“We are so excited for this event to change gears and raise more money for CVHN. The Hurricane Party was near and dear to our hearts, but after 13 years and multiple devastating hurricanes, we decided it was time for the name to change,” said Sarah Svoboda, Board Chair. “Changing the name to ‘The CVHN Big Give’ will refocus the community’s efforts on raising money for our mission through this exclusive, signature event.”

The CVHN Big Give is a Caribbean-themed evening with live music, a delicious buffet, live auction and silent auction. This year’s live auction items, including a seven-night stay in a villa on the island of Anguilla, a private group wine dinner with a local French Wine Scholar, and a stay in a Key West home, are sure to cause a bidding frenzy. The silent auction is also packed full with tickets to local events, staycations, and exclusive items from local businesses.

“CVHN relies heavily on community participation for our signature fundraisers. We could not do the work we do without the support of each and every member of our community,” said Kelly Thompson, CVHN Development Director. “To watch everyone gather together to donate items, sponsor, purchase tickets, or volunteer for this event is astounding. We are incredibly blessed.”

Thank you to the sponsors CVHN already has on board for this year’s event: Setco, Krueger, Fosdyck & Associates of Merrill Lynch, Hancock Whitney Bank, Wavefly, Shoreline Title, LLC., Dermatology Specialists of Florida, & The Jay Odom Group.

All proceeds from the event go to CVHN, which spends 94 cents of every dollar on its programs. CVHN provides kids in Walton and Okaloosa Counties with access to health care through its three major programs: the Mobile Dental Clinic that visits elementary schools and other local charities, a network of volunteer providers, and the CVHN Dental Clinic located in Santa Rosa Beach.

Tickets are limited and $150 each. Guests can purchase tickets to the event on the CVHN website, www.cvhnkids.org. For more information or if your business is interested in becoming a sponsor, contact Kelly Thompson at 850.622.3200 ext. 101 or kellyt@cvhnkids.org.

CHILDREN'S VOLUNTEER HEALTH NETWORK, INC. (CVHN) is a faith-based 501(c)(3) organization, established in 2005 in response to Walton and Okaloosa County's large population of low-income families unable to access high-quality health services due to the unavailability (or inadequacy) of insurance. The mission of CVHN is to improve the health and well-being of children in need. CVHN strives towards this mission by utilizing a network of over 95 local, volunteer physicians, dentists, and other healthcare providers. CVHN also operates the 'Just for Grins' Mobile Dental Clinic, which visits local elementary schools and other non-profits, and the CVHN Dental Clinic in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. All services are free to children enrolled in Walton and Okaloosa county schools on the free or reduced lunch programs. CVHN has facilitated more than 86,000 free procedures since its inception. More than 19,000 children have been helped, resulting in over 6.2 million dollars in free health services provided to our community. CVHN spends 94 cents of every dollar on its programs. The vision of CVHN is for all God’s children to be healthy, happy and see their futures as limitless. Until that day, there is more work to be done.
