How can 37 Shakespeare plays be condensed to one fluid, comical performance with only three actors? Great Question! But every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Seaside Repertory Theatre, that is exactly what is happening
There are tourists and then there are tourists - no matter where you travel. In Firenze or Milano, the shoes are usually a dead giveaway. The natives are wearing soft leather loafers. The Americans are often decidedly less stylish.
In Seaside, the tell-tale signs are often times even more revealing. Anyone in a bathing suit and flip flops is here to have fun.
The men in black and women decked out head to toe in an equally monochromatic manner of dress are likely on a mission, or more specifically, an architectural pilgrimage.
Walton County takes matters into its own hands…
It now seems like a lifetime ago.
The news was bad and utterly unexpected. In late April, a few days after the Deepwater Horizon rig sank, Walton County officials were told that “in 72 hours our beaches would look like a paved parking lot,” recalled Captain Mike Barker of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
There’s a special category of cinematographer whose job is to bring a camera to bear in places the audience is unlikely to otherwise visit.
They pursue the inaccessible, and render the quiet workings of little-known worlds.
“I get in the water,” says Elam Stoltzfus. “That’s what you have to do to get your shot. And I love doing it.”

The coastline of Northwest Florida is known as one of the world's most beautiful beaches. The lakes are generally permanent water bodies, although water levels may fluctuate substantially due to rain, groundwater seepage through the surrounding coastal sands, and storms. Sand dunes ranging in height from a few feet to more than 30 feet separate the lakes from the Gulf of Mexico.

"Bang! I'm not sure what happened," said Captain Mark Thompson. "Next thing I knew I had another boat wedged between my tramp and my hull."
By the time Thompson and his crew disengaged from the other boat the leaders were too far ahead to make a run for it.
On the beach right after the 4th of July Parade, these Grayton girls make the best of a mountain of stockpiled sand to be used to block the Western Lake outflow (more photos after the break).
A tarball cleanup crew was in view - a dozen or so men and women with (empty) crab nets. They looked pretty bored, but no doubt
were happy to be on the beach on such a fine day and getting paid for it. No tarballs were seen but they might have caught lunch. The beachgoers I talked to thought it quite odd that workers were present on a national holiday with no oil in sight.
The 2010 edition of Rags To Riches Regatta was a thrilling success. Rough seas calmed and winds were perfect. The water was clean and clear except for a bit of froth from Hurricane Alex's passing through the southern reaches of the Gulf of Mexico.
The 2010 YOLO Board Race Series is underway. The second of the five-race series featured men's, and women's divisions on Western Lake at WaterColor's BoatHouse. Races are ongoing from May to August at various area locations.
Race paddlers vie for the champion title “2010 YOLO Board Cup Series” to be awarded after the final race in August.
