Fisher House on the Emerald Coast won its second consecutive “Best of Show” award at the 2012 Festival of Trees in Grand Boulevard. The award came with a $2000 check. The theme for the tree is Helping Heroes Heal. The Fisher House team was led by the organization’s executive director, Kim Henderson.

The Sandestin Wine Festival at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, one of the most treasured traditions in the South, today announced that internationally known food personality, author and restaurateur Paula Deen will be featured at its April 2013 event.
The award-winning documentary about local musician Duke Bardwell is finally coming to Florida with a special screening at the 2013 30A Songwriters Festival. Duke & The King tells the story of Duke, one of our great, unheralded musicians and songwriters in America. He's a low-key and humble SoWal celebrity (see story below).
Grand Boulevard’s third annual “Festival of Trees” will showcase 13 uniquely decorated Christmas trees from area non-profit organizations, Nov. 20 – Dec. 25 in Grand Park. The public is invited to attend the kick-off on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. as the trees are lighted, judged on their decorations, and winners are announced at 6 p.m. “Festival of Trees” is free and open to the public.
One of South Walton's most popular fall events, the annual Flutterby Festival is returning to Rosemary Beach, November 10-11, 2012. Presented by the Merchants of Rosemary Beach and the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA), the annual Flutterby Festival celebrates art, nature, and the migration of the Monarch Butterfly. On Sep. 29, 2012, Shelter House for domestic violence and Alaqua Animal Refuge joined forces once again to hold the 2nd Annual “Share the Shelter” Music Festival. The event, sponsored by SoWal.com, was created to raise much needed funds for both organizations, and to bring a higher level of awareness to the cycle of violence created by those who inflict abuse.
