Sandestin Gumbo Festival Spices It Up Feb 12-13, 2016

Come join all SoWal gumbo lovers for the 2016 Annual Sandestin Gumbo Festival! It's one of the very best events of the entire year in South Walton, FL! What a great time tasting gumbo all around the Village of Baytowne Wharf, listening to live Zydeco music and having a cocktail. Visitors and gumbo-lovers from across the Southeast are expected to join in the festivities during the extended Presidents Day weekend. 

Meet Biophilia Bobcats at Members Only Event Jan 23

Satisfy the urge to connect with nature, and meet some seriously cute-yet-fierce bobcats, at E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center, January 23 from 10 am- 3 pm. Members will get exclusive access at the free event, and a full day of activities is slated to keep them busy all day long.

It's a magical day for the whole family starting with the race at 9:00 a.m. and ending with a party in the Village.
 

Gulf World Welcomes Rescued Rough-Toothed Dolphin

Stan, Gulf World's newest rough-toothed dolphin resident, is acclimating well to his new environment and companions. He's now living with five other rough-toothed dolphins, all rescues that were deemed non-releasable by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Stan, a 225 pound, 7 ft 1 in long rough-toothed dolphin, was originally rescued by the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and transported to SeaWorld Orlando for rehabilitative care after he was found stranded this past June.

Emerald Coast Theater Company Presents A Dickens Christmas in December

Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) will present the second annual performance of the holiday classic A Dickens Christmas at various venues along Northwest Florida’s Gulf coast throughout the month of December. Experience a unique adaptation of Charles Dickens’ famous story A Christmas Carol in this up close and intimate setting. Three talented professional actors seamlessly change from character to character as they bring to life the tale of Scrooge and his transformational night with three ghosts.

Shelter House Luminaria Run Shines a Light on Domestic Violence Dec 5

Shelter House will host a unique twilight run designed to shine the light on abuse in our community. The 5th Annual Luminaria Run to End Domestic & Sexual Violence will take place on Saturday, December 5 at 4:30 pm. Runners will start at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. in Destin and follow a course lined with more than 2,000 luminarias lighting their path.
 

Festival of Trees Kicks Off the Season at Grand Boulevard Nov. 24

It's a festive time of year in SoWal! Grand Boulevard’s sixth annual Festival of Trees will showcase 12 uniquely decorated Christmas trees from area non-profit organizations, Nov. 24 – Dec. 25 in Grand Park. Everyone's invited to join the fun and vote for their favorite tree! The winning charity will take home $2500 in prize money to help fulfill their mission.
