A proposed Hampton Inn at the eastern end of Seagrove Beach on Scenic Highway 30A has generated fierce opposition from SoWal locals, second homeowners, and beach lovers from across the country.

WaterSound West Beach resident Ehan Lyell has created an online petition against the building of the hotel. The petition has more then 9,000 signatures. The proposed 44,205 square-foot hotel would have 90 rooms on 2.4 acres.

Every statistic for single family homes shows a year over year increase in the annual real estate report for Walton County, Which includes South Walton. As the number of sales have increased, inventory has dropped and prices have risen.

It's a huge sale, but not even the highest this year, if you can believe that! Linda Miller, the Broker at Rosemary Beach Realty, just closed the sale of an elegant Tuscan-style villa in Seacrest for $7,800,000. But earlier this year a gulf front home in Rosemary Beach sold for $8,300,000, which is so far the highest sale this year. The home was sold by Jan and Steve Stephens, also of Rosemary Beach Realty.
