The most depressing movie to me is Life is Beautiful. I have made a vow not to watch it all the way through again. I don't think I can emotionally survive it again. I think I've seen it completely 3 times -- each time I cried and cried and sunk into a depression for days. But I do pull it out occaisonally and watch the first part -- that part is really funny.
I forgot about this one. Definitely SAD but good.

Also , Schindler's List. This is the only movie that I could not finish watching because of profound sadness. To this day I still can't bring myself to watch it.

I just Netflixed Dead Poet's Society...should I break out the Kleenex?
Yes.

"Life Is Beautiful" is so beautiful, but so depressing. I can't count how many times I've seen it.

"Walk The Line" is really depressing to me. I feel like JR did -- in our family the beautiful, favorite child was killed. But I still love the movie. The music is great, and Reese is just absolutely awesome, as well as Joaquin. I can't count how many times I've seen it either.

I guess I like depressing movies, but I have to be in the right mood for them. :rotfl: I mean, sometimes "Almost Famous" is depressing to me. I've seen that movie at least 100 times. I think it's the music -- makes me so nostalgic for my high school/college years that were so fun. You gotta know that it is just plain fun to go to school in NOLA (pre-Katrina). Not sure about how it would be now.:dunno:

Crap. You answered this one while I was editing...oh well.

Love "Lake House." Makes absolutely no sense, but I still loved it!.

I absolutely LOVED the Lake House. So much so I watched it twice back to back. Its based on a Korean Fantasy. I'd like to see the Korean Version.

There was a series of Indian movies that I loved but my goodness were they heart wrenching. Fire, Water, Earth.

Most favorite depressing movie of all time with one of the bestest mostest depressing soundtracks of all time is "The Hours". LOVE this movie.

Okay, here comes the stereotype in me.

Beaches
Titanic
Terms of Endearment
The Evening Star

sorry, would have continued the list, but getting a little depressed.

Sweetheart, how can you bring up this list without adding;
Steel Magnolias and Fried Green Tomotoes at the Whistlestop Cafe?

Oh and speaking of Larry McMurtry, I still can't bring myself to watch BrokeBack Mountain again. It just seemed to go on an on and on...

I also went through a phase where I watched tons of Holocaust Movies.
Life is Beautiful cured me of that.

I liked White Oleander - loved the book more though.
A River Runs Through It - 5 stars!
Perfect Storm.
Walk the Line - Funny, Depressing, Heartwarming all at the same time.
Most Depressing of all time: Leaving Las Vegas.

^^Absolutely, the most depressing movie ever. Nicholas Cage was fabulous, but I was ready to slit my wrists.

The mean reds....I love it. I always say I have the mean reds or a black mood, and no one ever gets the reference.

Punzy, I would know. Loved, loved, loved, BAT.

Schindler's List is another movie I'm not going to watch again. I guess I'm done with Holocaust Movies. In a similar vein, my 4 yr old watched The Sound Of Music this year for the first time (Not all the way to the end) but he is obsessed with it. He constantly sings the songs. . .. much to his fathers chagrin! :D
