Dancing, Dining and Daiquiris at Red Fish Taco

December 27, 2021 by Abby Eller

Celebrating all that our “30A beach vibe” has to offer -  resident musicians, fresh catch seafood, and area artists (check out local legend Bryan Hand’s barroom mural) -  Red Fish Taco (RFT) prides itself on delicious food and cocktails, great music, and good times set in a casual yet eclectic atmosphere.

Evolving from a simple pop-up during the 2019 30A Songwriters Festival to a traditional brick & mortar restaurant, then navigating the choppy pandemic waters back to being a counter service eatery has enabled Red Fish to become a fast-paced dining experience that provides options for families to dine onsite or grab and go while never sacrificing quality or flavor.

“Try the brisket, specifically the brisket tacos. They’re just amazing, ” says Todd Meisner, Corporate Chef and RFT Managing Partner. “ We make all our own taco meats in-house and smoke our brisket just a few miles up the road at our sister-restaurant, Stinky’s (Fish Camp).”

The menu offers something for the cajun-latin foodie is us all; legit Street Tacos,  employee-favorite Blackened Shrimp Salad and their Mexican Street Corn, an addicting take on traditional Elote. RFT’s daily specials are the talk of the town. Taco Tuesday is elevated to new heights with Tuesday’s Taco Log, featuring 12 mouth-watering tacos - 4 different kinds, 3 of each. And with RFT’s multiple infused-in-house Tequilas, don’t forget to add a cocktail or daiquiri to your order! I recommend the Pineapple Aloe Rita or Smoked Jalapeno Strawberry Rita. TIP: Don’t miss their Happy Hour featuring $2 Tacos + $3 Domestic Beers from 3-5PM.

Currently open Tuesday thru Sunday, Red Fish has become a hotspot for locals and visitors alike. Chef Todd attributes Red Fish’s success to, “ a combination of things really - our cool vibe, live music and the people - we have a really great staff!”

It’s impossible to talk about Red Fish Taco without mentioning the entertainment. Born out of necessity, the popular Garden Room allows the party to move outside. Picture a covered area with fire pits, friendly faces, and plenty of space to boogie along with whomever is playing - ¡la música es vida!

“The love that they put into the details of the food and the venue are obvious,”  explains longtime local and one of SoWal’s favorite musicians, Forrest Williams. “Red Fish has always been a special place for bands to come play. You are greeted by friendly staff upon arrival, and Jim Richard [owner] is such a cool guy who does so much to make this area standout and still feel local. With the music being outdoors it allows everyone to find their comfort zone in regards to proximity to others during these interesting times we are in.”

The Garden Room also sets the scene for many of RFT’s most popular events. From their annual “Good Friday Crawfish Boil” and “Cinco de Mayo Celebration” to “Taco Turkey Dance” and “Tacky Sweater Christmas Bash”, the Red Fish Taco Crew knows how to work hard and play hard! Coming full circle, Red Fish Taco will be a venue for the upcoming 30A Songwriters Festival in January 2022.

You can find RFT on the corner of CR-83 and HWY 30A in Blue Mountain Beach’s Redfish Village Shopping Center. Looking to fiesta with Fido? Taco-loving dogs are welcome outside! Follow Red Fish Taco on Facebook for live music updates. See the food and drink menus at redfishtaco.com.
