Homestyle Italian You Know and Love at Angelina's

May 19, 2015 by Jill Tanner

There are a many reasons why Angelina’s Pizzeria and Pasta in Seagrove Beach has been a success for more than 20 years, but the most important are the great food and warm, friendly service. When Brian and Jan Ethridge moved to SoWal in 1994 to open their little Italian eatery, they wanted nothing more than to offer home-style cuisine by the beach - and they have succeeded.

Recently appointed kitchen manager, Shawn O’Drain, spent close to a decade in the kitchen at Angelina’s. The Ethridges are like family to him, so when Brian offered Shawn the kitchen manager position, he gladly accepted. While many of the tried and true dishes remain on the menu, Shawn has made a few changes just to spice things up and bring excitement to the established clientele.

His creativity in the kitchen means offering up nightly specials like Black Grouper dusted in flour, sautéed in olive oil, finished with lemon caper butter sauce and served with primavera vegetables. Shawn will soon offer his perfected version of risotto as a summer addition. And this winter, you will be happy to see fresh, homemade soups on the menu and specials like Ossobuco and other savory dishes.

Shawn believes in Angelina’s recipe for success and has no reason to stray too far from the course that has kept them in business for twenty years plus. The pizza at Angelina’s speaks for itself, as it has since the first one was made in 1994. The restaurant welcomes many annual visitors who pick up a pie at least twice a week while visiting South Walton. Large to go orders are happily prepared for visitors and locals who crave a night at home or want to start a party. Now, even more fresh toppings are available to go on their perfect pizza pies.

Service is very important to the managers and staff at Angelina’s. They maintain a level of service that guarantees a feel of family and familiarity. The vibe is comfortable and friendly; just the kind of place you’d want to gather as a family or the kind of food you’d like to take home to your clan.

“Doing things the right way is important to me and I urge my staff to do things the right way and create good habits, which will be beneficial for the proper functioning of the restaurant,” Shawn proudly stated.

Italian food is all about the ingredients and Angelina’s keeps it simple with fresh ingredients that make each dish perfect. As always, Angelina’s will continue to serve the best Italian food in an unpretentious atmosphere for families. Children are always welcome. Shawn and his crew look forward to a great summer in South Walton and to serving you the best Italian food on the coast!
