Bait, Beer, Apparel and Adventure at Stinky's Bait Shack

June 1, 2015 by Jill Tanner

Stinky’s Bait Shack has a name that belies its great selection of beach and water fare. It is the kind of place you sometimes stumble upon that is completely unexpected. The guys and gals of Stinky’s know how to do it right. Owner and chef, Jim Richard, along with Bait Shack manager, Kelli Younkin, have put a ton of thought, backed by experience, into exactly what their shop should offer. If you are looking for live bait, some new beach or boat apparel, or fishing tackle, take a drive to the west end of Scenic 30A to the best little bait shack in South Walton!

When it comes to rockin’ out, Stinky’s doesn’t mess around. Starting Memorial Day weekend, the Bait Shack will have live music every night from 6-9 p.m. throughout the summer. And it doesn’t stop there. The Bait Shack has light appetizers from 4 p.m. until closing time and wine and beer at any time! There is a new nature walk that connects Stinky’s Restaurant to the Bait Shack, so when if you are waiting for a table on a busy summer night, walking with a beverage will fill the time.

The nature walk connects the bait shack to the main restaurant next door, and the surrounding flora and fauna. The walk leads out to a beautiful dock overlooking Allen Lake, one of the 15 coastal dune lakes in South Walton. You can fish right from the dock (catch and release only) or drop in your paddleboard. The Bait Shack also has paddleboards and beach chairs available to rent by the day or the week.

From live bait to cold beer to unique gifts and apparel, Stinky’s stocks the best. Their selection includes Real Deal hats, Mojo, Freaker USA, and of course tons of sunglasses from Costa Del Mar and Stinky’s own apparel. Oh and don’t forget the best seller – the ukuleles, which everyone wants to take home. The Bait Shack exclusively sells Grayton Beer, so grab a cold one while you shop. Load up for your fishing excursion here too, with live bait and everything you could need to be prepared for a day on the water. Stinky’s Bait Shack also carries homemade Bloody Mary Mix, grits, pickled okra and green beans, and Memaw’s Pepper Jelly. You can also snag some of the world famous seasoning mix for seafood, meat and blackening.

This year the Bait Shack started offering a charter fishing service. Book your trip at the Bait Shack and then launch with Captain Coe from Cessna Landing in Santa Rosa Beach. Up to four people can go for a full day, half day or dolphin cruise. A charter trip can complete a vacation, so make sure to check it out!

Talk about a one of a kind store- Stinky’s Bait Shack is always getting better by adding new products and adventures. They are in the business of keeping the locals and visitors happy! Stop by soon, grab a beer and just see what’s in stock.
