Animoré: A Weekend Benefit For The Love of Animals Oct 18 & 19

October 11, 2019 by SoWal Staff

Alaqua Animal Refuge invites you to the first annual weekend festival in celebration of and for the love of animals.

Animoré will take place Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19 on the grounds of Alaqua Animal Refuge's future home in Freeport, Florida. The weekend showcases two events: The 6th Annual 100 Point and Cult Wine Dinner and the Inaugural Barn Jam. Tickets: http://bit.ly/animore-tickets

Kicking off the festivities is Alaqua’s 6th Annual 100 Point and Cult Wine Dinner on Friday evening, October 18. This exclusive evening is a one-of-a-kind experience for a limited collection of patrons, as guests will be the first to dine in a most unique, surprise setting at Alaqua’s future home.

The elegant affair begins with a cocktail reception and an intimate musical performance, followed by an exquisite 5-course dinner prepared by Chef Brendan Davey, with each course perfectly paired with distinctive and stellar wines, procured especially for this dinner. An evening of luxe savoring and sipping, including a live and silent auction, this fête is not to be missed!

As an added bonus this year, 100 Point and Cult Wine Dinner guests will be treated to the VIP Patron Lounge and prime seating at Saturday’s Inaugural Barn Jam (including complimentary food and drinks).

The Animoré Inaugural Barn Jam takes place on Saturday, October 19  beginning at 4:00 p.m. (gates open at 3pm) at the future home of Alaqua Animal Refuge in Freeport, Florida. Headlining is roots-rocking, multi-instrumentalist Eric Lindell who has collaborated and shared stages with John Fogarty and Jackson Browne, and is a founding member of Dragon Smoke with Ivan Neville. The outdoor music festival features performances by Nashville songwriters Billy Dawson, Aaron Barker, and Jon Nite. Together, these award-winning songwriters and performers have written hits for George Strait, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Kenny Chesney, Lee Brice, Luke Bryan, and many more. Local favorites The Pickled Pickers and the Luke Langford Band will kick off the festivities! Barn Jam tickets are available online now at https://www.animore.org/

The Barn Jam will include a wide variety of food trucks, beverages, a silent auction, and seating options from general admission to exclusive VIP Patrons. Shuttles available from Destin Commons, Sandestin, and Watersound for $25 roundtrip. Link to purchase your seat will be emailed to you after ticket purchase.

Tickets for all events are currently on sale at  http://bit.ly/animore-tickets. Ticket prices for the Barn Jam include:  $25 General Admission, Child; $50 General Admission, Adult; and $500 VIP Patron / Furlanthropist, which includes entry into the VIP Lounge (with complimentary food and beverages), preferred seating at the Barn Jam, and their name on the sponsor signage at the event. Seats for the 100 Point and Cult Wine Dinner are $1,200 per seat.

The animoré weekend benefit was born out of an idea from Alaqua’s Founder Laurie Hood to create a community event combining music with excellent food and wine in support of animal welfare. For hundreds of years, music has enhanced our souls and holds a special spiritual power for engaging our senses. Interactions with animals also have powerful effects on the human spirit and body.

As such, one of Alaqua's goals for their future home and its unique environment is to be an inspiration for creating a kinder, more empathetic, and healthier society by healing animals and people. And it this inaugural animoré festival does just that – bringing people together through music and engagement to help heal and give animals in Alaqua’s care second chances at life, happiness, and most of all, love.

Alaqua Animal Refuge is a no-kill animal shelter and sanctuary, located in the panhandle of Florida. A member of the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries, Alaqua believes that every abused, neglected and homeless animal deserves a second chance. Committed to providing protection, shelter and care to animals in need, this private, non-profit Refuge also offers a full-service adoption center, educational outreach, and community programs that extend far beyond their geographic location. Since its inception in 2007, Alaqua has become a recognized leader in animal rescue, welfare, cruelty prevention, and advocacy. Alaqua is currently in the midst of a relocation and expansion capital campaign to build a one-of-a-kind facility—the first in the United States—on 100 donated acres. The new facility and sanctuary will allow Alaqua to continue all of the important work that is done now, as well as be an educational and training center to empower others to help animals and recreate the model worldwide. The Campaign for Alaqua Animal Refuge — Second Chances Start Here
Alaqua is currently in the midst of a $15 million Capital Campaign initiative that serves as the foundation for Alaqua’s relocation and expansion from our current site of 10 acres to 100 acres of donated land. The Campaign will provide critical funding for the construction of buildings and facilities to ensure long-term financial stability and growth, while achieving our goals and furthering our mission. This one-of-a-kind refuge and sanctuary will be the first of its kind in the United States, and will be a game-changer for Alaqua’s future, helping us transform the shape of animal shelters and sanctuaries around the globe.
