Stinky's Bait Shack Serves Up Breakfast, Coffee, & Live Music

August 15, 2022 by Abby Eller

Hunting for a fantastic breakfast? Then make Stinky’s Bait Shack your destination.

Stinky’s Bait Shack is located on Scenic 30A in Dune Allen, next door to Stinky's Fish Camp restaurant. Stinky's Bait Shack is the only place you can grab everything you could possibly need for a day on the water while not forgetting the real essentials - breakfast, coffee, and a Bloody Mary to really get you going!

This summer Stinky's Bait Shack began daily breakfast service from 7 - 11 a.m. Start your day with scratch-made biscuits paired with butter and jelly, or smothered by a hefty ladle-full of gravy goodness! Personally, I like to take my biscuit game up a notch with the made-in-house Andouille Sausage Biscuit Sandwich.

“Our breakfast chefs are a special breed! They’re up at 4 or 5 o’clock in the morning to get grits rolling & the biscuits made,” says Jim Richard, owner of Stinky's. “Our biscuits are handcrafted using whole butter that we actually freeze and put through a cheese grater so that during the mixing process there is as little kneading as possible which gives them their fluffy, delicate texture.”

Craving something sweet? Stinky’s has you covered. Sink your teeth into a gloriously gooey Blueberry Biscuit or their much in-demand Cinnamon Biscuit Roll – biscuit dough rolled with cinnamon sugar baked in the pan & glazed… yes, please! They’re so good Stinky’s put a catch limit on them! Seriously, you can only buy 1 per person. Looks like the early bird gets the worm!

“Fresh blueberries and streusel topping are used to create our blueberry biscuits. Both are truly heavenly confections! I cannot walk near them because they’re so good – if I see or smell them I will have to eat one,” says Jim with a smile.

Served as a side but definitely deserving of your full attention are Stinky’s Grits – course stone-ground pepper jack cheese grits that will stick to your ribs, so you better wash ‘em down with a frozen Stink Juice or a cup of regionally-roasted coffee.

The Bait Shack takes coffee brewing Stinkin' Serious. By establishing a partnership with Cherry Coffee Roasters, the New Orleans based coffee collective that only uses beans harvested from ethically-sourced farms, Stinky’s  is able to offer a wide selection of coffee profiles from chocolatey and nutty, to fruity and floral. The goal is to provide you with the best in flavor and freshness.

“At the end of the day the coffee is a mouth full of joy! The flavors that come through from batch to batch continue to impress and blow my mind, I have never enjoyed coffee as much as I do right now. It is no longer just a cup of Joe,” explains Richard.

As the day pushes on and you need a break from the boat, bay or beach, head back to Stinky's Bait Shack to grab a snack from the all-day menu featuring cajun boiled peanuts, smoked tuna dip, chips & queso, and more. Pull up a chair at the bar, sip on a cold one, and listen to some “reel” true fish stories or find out who’s playing LIVE @ Stinky’s Bait Shack that night.

Stinky’s Fish Camp and Stinky’s Bait Shack have supported, promoted, and featured local South Walton music legends, as well as traveling musicians, for over 15 years. An extension of that beloved music heritage, the Shack welcomes performers to their stage. Returning to the Bait Shack on Tuesday, August 17th will be Tim Jackson’s Songwriters Performance Series. Instead of the lively honky-tonk atmosphere we are accustomed to in the funky little shack, Tim Jackson's series provides music-lovers of all ages with a more intimate experience.

“What matters most to me is that the storyteller and the audience have a chance to genuinely connect,” says Jackson. He has tirelessly procured talent from all over the world to perform for his Storyteller Tour.

Follow Stinky’s Bait Shack on Facebook to see who’s playing next! While you're on their social sites, don't forget to see what else they have planned. Between live music, crawfish festivals, and fishing tournaments, there is always something fun happening in The Shack!

Stinky’s Fish Camp and Bait Shack hold the area’s two largest fishing tournaments. The Fall Beach to Bay Grand Slam and the Spring/Summer Pompano Tournament draw local and visiting anglers competing for leader board recognition and prizes. Call 850-622-BAIT to find out their current live bait offerings and to book a half day or full day fishing trip with Stinky’s Fishing Charters.

“We run the tournaments for 30 days so that even if you’re here visiting for the week you can still sign up, get the goody bag with our annual tournament shirt and have a chance to win because, after all - it only takes one fish to win! This year’s Pompano Tournament was our biggest pay out yet at $4,800 in total cash and prizes,” Jim explains. “But personally I like to see the camaraderie and competition, and of course watching the fish weighed in.”
