Seventh Annual Camp Helen State Park Ghost Walk and History Tour on Oct. 13, 2012

Ghosts, spooks, pirates and witches will be hanging out at Camp Helen State Park, Saturday, October 13th. Everyone is invited to join them for an adventuresome evening of continuous storytelling and historic re-enactment from 5:00pm – 8:30pm.
 

The seventh annual Ghost Walk and History Tour, hosted by the Friends of Camp Helen, is suitable for children. New stories, pre tour entertainment and activities are being planned for this year’s event. Costumes are encouraged and flashlights are recommended. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.
 

Explore the Outdoors on October 6 in Freeport

We're always encouraging visitors and locals to get outside more! That's just what the Explore The Outdoors Festival on Oct. 6, 2012 aims to do. The event will be 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the beautiful Live Oak Landing RV Resort at 229 Pitts Avenue in Freeport.

The fun-filled day is geared towards introducing children to the wonders of exploring the outdoors. It's free, and open to the public. Hands on activities will include fishing, boating, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, wildlife encounters, interactive educational exhibits and much more.

Seaside Community Yard Sale October 6

The Merchants of Seaside host the popular, semi-annual Community Yard Sale in the Seaside Amphitheater on Scenic Highway 30A. The event features nearly 100 vendors from across the country with a variety of unique offerings. Entertainment will be provided by 30A Radio, your community radio station. All guest parking will be at the WaterColor Crossings Shopping Center on 395 and the free shuttle service will drop off in the heart of Seaside.

Check it out on Saturday October 6, 2012 from 8:00AM-2:00PM  in the Seaside Amphitheater.

The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County Distributes Teacher Mini-Grants

The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) is proud to award six Walton County teachers more than $3000 in teacher mini-grants and need-based grants for the third quarter of 2012. Teachers are awarded funds based on their application for specific arts project(s) and how the lesson will support the Florida Sunshine Standards, among other considerations. The program provides teachers needed funds to purchase supplies to enhance art in the classroom.
 

Best of the Emerald Coast October 13 at Grand Boulevard

Each year Emerald Coast Magazine holds their annual Reader's Choice Poll for the best restaurants, shopping, services, entertainment, and businesses along the Emerald Coast. Winners from each category will be announced on Saturday, October 13, 2012, from 6-9pm at Grand Boulevard in Sandestin.

The public is invited for an evening of food, fun, fashion, and entertainment - including food, beer, wine, and drinks from the winning restaurants. The event benefits the Junior League of the Emerald Coast (JLEC).

Habitrot For Humanity Half Marathon and 5K October 6 at Sandestin

 Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, the #1 Resort on Florida’s Emerald Coast, will host the 2nd Annual Habitrot for Humanity, a half marathon and 5k race this Oct. 6, to benefit Habitat for Humanity.   

Sandestin invites running and walking enthusiasts to enjoy the beautiful weather and scenic trails throughout the beautiful 2,400 acre resort. Participants will be able to soak in views including the Gulf of Mexico, Choctawhatchee Bay, beautifully manicured golf courses, ponds, nature and so much more.
