“Top of the Class” Art Exhibition and Reception April 5

Celebrating its third year, the Cultural Arts Alliance (CAA) "Top of the Class" exhibition will be on display at Northwest Florida State College-South Walton Campus, from April 5 to May 30. The art exhibition features 35 new, original works by local artists. To launch the exhibit and announce the cash awards, the CAA is hosting an opening reception on Friday April 5 from 5pm - 7pm at the South Walton Campus of Northwest Florida State College.

Williams Backyard Boogie One Year Anniversary Concert March 29

Local music lovers are crazy for great live music and good times at Williams Backyard Boogie. It has become a favorite gathering spot and music venue tucked away in the woods off Chat Holley Road in South Walton. Forrest and Pherrel Williams created the Backyard Boogie to provide local musicians and the music loving community with a casual and comfortable outdoor venue. 
 

Building Homes for Heroes Salutes US Army SSG Aaron Hale

Building Homes for Heroes is proud to announce a homecoming celebration to welcome Army Staff Sergeant Aaron Hale to his new home at 73 Pelican Bay Drive in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida on Saturday, April 6 at 10:30 a.m. Joining in the celebration will be high-ranking military personnel, members of the construction team, local dignitaries, community members, corporate sponsors, civic organizations, friends and family, etc.

Earth Day Festival & 5K Race at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park

Come celebrate Earth Day in Walton County on April 20, 2013 at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park!! This festival is free to the public and will feature environmental education exhibits and hands-on activities, children’s programs, cooking demos and MORE! Organizations are invited to participate in this fun-filled event, now in its fifth year, attracting over 600 visitors yearly.

Americana Music Series at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park Starts Feb 7

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park and Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park present Americana Under the Stars, an evening of music featuring some of the best musicians and singer/songwriters touring America today. Each program will offer an open mic showcase of local musicians from 5pm to 6:30pm with the scheduled music concert following at 7pm.

CVHN Changing Childrens' Lives with a Smile

Almost eight years ago, the first annual Hurricane Party was held to kick start Children's Volunteer Health Network (CVHN). Founder Tricia Carlisle-Northcutt's intention was to provide a way for all children to be healthy and happy, but she knew she needed the help and commitment of our entire community.

Since then, CVHN has provided thousands of our children with medical, dental, vision and mental health care. Who could have imagined the enormity of the need right here in South Walton?

Attention Artists! CAA Accepting Applications for Top of the Class Juried Art Show

Start making art now! Entries for the Cultural Arts Alliance A+ Art Committee’s annual juried show, “Top of the Class” must be submitted by February 5, 2013. The show, presented by the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) in partnership with Northwest Florida State College, awards monetary prizes for the winning pieces of art. Artists may submit up to two entries of original art.

South Walton Fire District Offers "Home for the Holidays" Program

For the third year, South Walton Fire District (SWFD) is offering a "Home for the Holidays" program. This program is designed to allow patients in skilled nursing and adult living facilities to go home to be with family members for holiday dinner. Patients must be self-supporting while at the residence, and be left in the care of a responsible family member.
