Garrett Horn’s new book, Postcards of Seagrove, is a trip down memory lane. But don’t EVEN think that this is just another photo book with captions. Garrett takes readers through an unexpected odyssey, one filled with personal tales of love, laughter, discovery, loneliness, joy…well, you name it, Garett has been there and done that and he is baring it all to tell his Seagrove story.
When the SoWal staff does lunch at Steamboat Grill, we hardly need a menu and often go straight for the crave-worthy Buffalo Shrimp Salad. The always excellent burger and fries is another sure thing. But the other day when we visited the Seagrove Beach location, we decided to switch things up a bit.
State park personnel were in Walton County on June 7 to hear from the public about a 10-year plan under consideration for Deer Lake State Park in southeastern Walton County. About a dozen members of the public attended the meeting, which was held in the pavilion at Eden Gardens State Park.

Cafe' Thirty-A in Seagrove Beach is celebrating wine and food this fall as they host Kokomo Winery at a special wine dinner in the Fishbone Room on Thursday, November 5 at 6:30 p.m. The dinner will feature Kokomo Winery owner and winemaker Erik Miller and his partner and grower, Randy Peters. Chef T has designed a menu to perfectly compliment the wines that will be poured that night. This will be an intimate setting with only 30-40 people maximum.
You could call Mark and Paige Schnell the SoWal dynamic design duo. They just might have tights and capes underneath their casual beachwear. Each has a thriving and creative business that requires wearing several hats. When you first meet either of them you would probably be fooled.
South Walton visitors love life, love the beach, and love food! Food just tastes better on vacation. But we also know SoWal has incredible restaurants with talented chefs. We locals benefit every day of the year from a fantastic cuisine scene.
