The Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance (CBA) and Northwest Florida State College (NFSC) announces the 2016 spring season of its eco-tourism initiative, Discover Roads Less Traveled: Eco-Adventures of Walton County. The perfect time of year to get outdoors and experience nature-based tours in South Walton and the surrounding area led by local experts and naturalists.
The fifth annual Artful Night Under the Stars party is back by popular demand with the theme Bubbles & Brews this year. The party takes at Grayton Beer Company in the Taproom on Saturday, March 5 from 6pm-10pm.
The Seaside School Half Marathon and 5K Race, presented by Vera Bradley, is coming up on Sunday, Feb. 28, along with some incredible parties and expos leading up to race day. This is one of the most anticipated weekends of the year in South Walton, Florida. For the 14th year we celebrate this out-and-back, fast and mostly flat course where runners from all over the US pass quaint beach towns, dune lakes, and the world's most beautiful beaches. All proceeds benefit the Seaside School Foundation.
Come out for a night of skateboard art, live music and tasty food at Trebeaché on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 5-8pm. Sk8 Deck-o is a fundraising event for a new skate park coming to South Walton. Local artists and guest artists from around the country are creating incredible works of art out of blank skate decks as part of the exhibition and silent auction at Trebeaché.
The month of February is full of artistic learning at the Bayou Arts Center with weekly and special workshops and classes presented by the Cultural Arts Alliance (CAA) of Walton County. The CAA offers over 200 workshops, classes and programs annually for artists of all ages and skill levels. Seaside’s Escape To Create (E2C) artist residency launches its 25th season with the arrival of a dozen artists selected from an international pool of applicants for the renowned creative retreat. During their residency artists, authors, filmmakers, playwrights, and musicians will bring a little magic to the South Walton community.
The Friends of Eden Gardens are hosting the annual Camellia Festival on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Eden Gardens State Park in Point Washington. Floral demonstrations and presentations will be held throughout the day, and live music will be provided by local bluegrass band Dismal Creek (live music from noon til 2pm)!
