E.O Wilson Biophilia Center Celebrates Earth Day April 20

Get out and celebrate the Earth at the Biophilia Center for the Earth Day Festival. The event will feature bluegrass music with Franko and Fiends, food, environmental demos, animal ambassadors, arts and crafts, hikes, and so much more. The Earth Day Festival starts at 10:00 a.m. and goes until 3:00 p.m. Tickets are just $2 and children under six get in free.
 

Music in Pictures Art Exhibit on Display at Sacred Heart Hospital

During the month of April, Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast’s Arts in Medicine Program is hosting the 2nd Annual “Music in Pictures”, an art exhibit featuring the work of 328 Walton County students. The exhibit, displayed in the hospital’s lobby, upstairs atrium, and Outpatient Waiting Area, showcases artwork created by students in grades K-12 who listened to and visually interpreted six selections from Carnival of the Animals by composer Camille Saint-Saens.

CVHN Dental Clinic Honors Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation

Children's Volunteer Health Network (CVHN) names treatment room in its CVHN Dental Clinic in honor of Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF). DCWAF awarded CVHN $179,000 in 2012 and a total of $395,000 since 2008. The funds have been utilized to support two of CVHN's major programs, the CVHN Dental Clinic and the 'Just for Grins' Mobile Dental Clinic, and other projects that help local uninsured and underinsured children gain access to medical, dental and mental health care services.

Donate Instrument For Complimentary Tickets to Seabreeze Jazz Festival

Band and music education are an important part of our area’s middle and high school curriculums. But unfortunately, with reduced state budgets and cuts in county music program spending, funds for new band instrument purchases in most local schools are a challenge. This has prompted more pressure on parents to foot the bill in purchasing or renting a musical instrument for their child to participate in band.
