Panthers in Pt. Washington forest?

Cool. Or maybe I should be worried, as my yard backs up onto the forest.

If nobody hears anything from Uncle Timmy in a while, please send out a search party..........

 A fenced in yard for pets sounds like a must! Will they come around if kids or people are around? This is making me nervous for y'all.

Yeah, we are fenced. But this morning I have been looking up in the trees a lot!

Obituary

Family and friends are mourning the passing of Jeff Blaineswood, of Blue Mountain Beach. Originally from Toledo, Ohio Mr. Blaineswood had lived in Walton County for 7 years and was an active member of his community and church.

Blaineswood was best know through his work with the Walton county environmental advocacy group, Tree Huggers .

Mr. Blainesworth was found dead in his backyard Sunday, the apparent victim of an animal attack. The bite and claw markings indicate an attack by a Florida Panther.

The funeral will be held Tuesday. It will not be open casket as the carcass had been picked over quite extensively by coyotes. ?When we arrived on scene, we found Mr. Blaineswood?s body in the backyard with a large woodpecker looking bird pecking away at his skull. It was kinda gory.?, said Walton EMS director Will Blatts. Autopsy results have shown that the holes in his cranium were created by a long chisel-like bill the size and shape of which points towards an Ivory Billed Woodpecker.

If this can be confirmed, authorities have indicated that they will be required to designate all of northwest Florida a protected woodpecker habitat and all residents will be required to relocate to the only site deemed unacceptable habitat for wildlife- the Superfund cleanup site in Pensacola.

?I think Jeff would be pleased, to have given his life for the depopulation and reforestation of Walton County. He often said that he?d rather die than see one more chain business come to 30-A.?, said his wife Delores.

People wishing to support the family are asked to purchase a Protect Florida Pathers License plate in lieu of any cash donations.

I can't even approach 30-gAy's wit, so I won't even try... :lolabove:

However, on my walk this morning I met a gentleman who lives beachfront on Eastern Lake Road. He said that yesterday afternoon a single coyote was sunning itself on the dune in front of his house. Brazen, I'd say.

There is (was???) a sizable feral cat population on the eastern side of Eastern Lake. I'd say that would be what's brought the coyote(s) here, as least for a while... That should solve the problem my neighbors have been having with cat crap in the yard.

Just keep an eye on your pets! We've had two cats disappear this year. A few months ago, I saw a coyote near our home and I'm certain that our cats were someone's dinner.
