The judging is complete and the official results are in for our 2014 "You're So SoWal if..." contest!  A big SoWal thanks to everyone who sent in entries to make this year the best ever with great stuff from across the country. Beach lovers near and far know and love South Walton beaches!

Spadefish Schooling a Chicken Coop off Grayton Beach

For me, the lure of saltwater fishing is that you really never know what you are going to catch. I have fished a number of chicken coops in the Grayton Beach, Florida area for quite a few years now. I had always suspected that my really hot spots for red snapper were chicken coops as snapper are really attracted to to metal. Movie making with my home made GoPro drop rig has helped to clarify what I was fishing over and has become a new passion.

This pic was taken in about 1970. We're sitting in my uncle’s boat on the beach in Seagrove in front of my Great Aunt Sue and John’s "Yellow House", which is still in the family, owned by Leonard Isacks (2nd from left in photo).  It's located just east of where the Seagrove Villas were before they tore those down.

WaterColor Inn & Resort lies along the Gulf of Mexico and reaches into the coatal woodlands bordering Western Lake and Grayton Beach State Park to the west and the town of Seaside to the east. It's a family favorite for beach fun and a place where memories are made.
