Deck the Halls with Local Art, Jewelry, Clothes and More!

December 8, 2014 by Jill Tanner

South Walton is chock full of rare and unique treasures that you can’t find just anywhere. This year, think outside the box and look for gifts that will be “the hit” of the holidays. After a week of shopping local, the SoWal staff found the best gifts around for the whole family! We started in Miramar Beach and made our way east to Rosemary Beach for our latest SoWal List.

McCaskill and Company While diamonds are known to be “a girl’s best friend”, they are also known to create unforgettable holiday moments. These Kwiat inside and out diamond hoops at McCaskill and Company in Miramar Beach are sure to steal the show this holiday season. The graceful flow of these earrings would complement any woman. Imagine the look on her face as she unwraps a gift she will have forever.

Stinky’s Bait Shack Whether you have a fisherman in your life or not, you can find some seriously cool gifts at Stinky’s Bait Shack in Dune Allen Beach. Spice up your holiday party with a basket from the Bait Shack including the house made Bloody Mary mix from Chef Todd, homemade pickles, orca, and green beans. MeMaw’s Pepper Jelly is also a holiday favorite! You can also scoop up some sweet apparel from one of the most loved restaurants on Scenic 30-A. Stinky’s Bait Shack also carries the popular Yak Attack brand with accessories for fishing on your kayak. Don’t forget they have Mojo Apparel and Costa Del Mar shades. Fish happy!

Beau Interiors Beau Interiors in Grayton Beach offers luxury décor and furnishings for your home, but we found some smaller items perfect for the gifting season. These beautiful beaded crosses are both decorative and sentimental. They can be hung on a wall or just placed on your favorite table. They are handmade from vintage beads and charms and the quality shows in each well-made piece.

Lily Pads Lily Pads is a market-style shop in historic Grayton Beach, offering everything from home furnishings and decor, art, gifts and antiques. You could shop for everyone right in one spot! Find home decorations for the holidays, fulfill your shopping list, or splurge on something for yourself. The local, eclectic treasures you will find at Lily Pads are vast, unique and sure to fit every budget.

La Vie Est Belle There is one question everyone should ask his or her loved one before Christmas: “Do you have a Wendy?” And, if they don’t, it’s time to get them one! Wendy Mignot has quickly become a national and even international name in Fine Leather and Pearls and we fell in love with the The Freshwater Seaside Collection this year! All pieces are perfectly priced from $75 to $350. La Vie Est Belle, located in Seaside, is the original pearl and leather jewelry that is locally and internationally recognizable! Call, stop by or shop online at www.wendymignot.com.

Mercantile Every girl needs a great pair of boots (or five) and Mercantile in Seaside is the place to find them! Pick out a new pair for yourself to wear to all of those holiday parties or buy a pair for your bestie or your sis! Mercantile carries all of the up-to-the-minute brands every fashionista loves. So, if you want to step out knowing you’re in style, then you better get Mercantile in Seaside!

Fusion Art Glass If you have ever visited Seaside, you have certainly walked in Fusion Art Glass and been wowed. The store is filled with beautiful locally hand-blown glass shaped into art, bowls, tableware, ornaments, and so much more. Fusion also carries some other pretty incredible artists. We fell in love with the Graffiti Icon Necklaces by Dana David at Fusion. They are handmade using 18K gold and diamonds. Choose from a variety of pendants to complement anyone’s lifestyle!

Duckies Shop of Fun Maybe you don’t have a chimney for Santa to slide down on Christmas Eve, or maybe you don’t have a secure way to get your child’s letter to Santa, but either way, we have a solution. Duckies in Seaside has two adorable pillows - one has a key for Santa, to make sure he can get in a leave presents and the other is straight from the North Pole Express and they guarantee same hour delivery! Stop by Duckies for all of your toy needs. Bring $10 or an unwrapped toy valued at $10 and you will receive 33% off of your whole purchase through December 24!

Alys Shoppe No beach girl is complete without a Turkish T Beach Candy Tunic and Towel from Alys Shoppe in Alys Beach. This soft, super comfy tunic is a Shoppe favorite and the Beach Candy towel is so versatile it can be used a dozen ways. This is a great gift for any girl who loves days spent at the beach and nights relaxing on the porch listening to the waves.

Pish Posh Patchouli's We have found luxury in the Barefoot Dreams calypso wrap at Pish Posh Patchouli’s in Rosemary Beach. This lusciously soft wrap is perfect for all seasons.  Put it on after a warm bath, wear it for a night out or just snuggle up in it by the fire. This wrap will make every lady on your list ooh and ahh.

Hunks and Hounds Calendar The Hunks and Hounds calendar was created to benefit Alaqua Animal Refuge. This fun calendar filled with local men and dogs is available here and at local stores in South Walton and Destin. The cost is $20 and 100% of the proceeds go to support the refuge. Alaqua Animal Refuge is the premier no-kill animal shelter in Northwest Florida. Since Alaqua’s inception in 2007, the refuge has placed over 10,000 animals of all kinds into homes. Alaqua has grown to become a recognized leader in animal welfare and animal cruelty prevention.
