Local Non-profits Unite for Giving Tuesday Movement Dec 3

There is more to the holiday season than searching for the best deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Nineteen area non-profits are teaming up to promote Giving Tuesday, a first of its kind effort that will harness the collective power of a unique blend of partners—charities, families, businesses and individuals—to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.

Local Catch Bar and Grill Offers New Menu and Entertainment

Local Catch Bar and Grill won over South Walton locals and visitors the day it opened back in 2012. Owners Adam Yellin and Jimmy Hasser recently decided it was time to “beef up” the menu. Since opening their second location in Tuscaloosa, AL, they have been back and forth quite a bit. Now that both locations are settled in, they can come back to the beach for a while and focus on the South Walton location.
 

St. Joe Launches St. Joe Club & Resorts

The St. Joe Company has announced the launch of St. Joe Club & Resorts, a private membership club that will provide access to a diverse offering of benefits and privileges at Shark's Tooth Golf Club, WaterSound Beach Club and Camp Creek Golf Club in addition to other St. Joe owned and operated facilities such as the award-winning WaterColor Inn & Resort and Fish Out of Water restaurant.

Nest 30A Offers Gorgeous Giveaway to Support Caring and Sharing of South Walton

Ali Weil, owner of Nest 30A, is asking people in the community to bring in five canned goods to the store in Grayton Beach to enter to win a fabulous basket filled with wonderful Nest gifts. All food items collected at the store will go to Caring and Sharing of South Walton's food pantry for the upcoming holiday season.

Every Christmas Story Ever Told (and then some) Returns to the REP

The Seaside Repertory Theatre is bringing back its traditional holiday play, Every Christmas Story Ever Told (and then some!), this December. Opening night will take place on Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. Other showtimes in 2013 include, Dec. 5, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, and 21 - all at 7:30 p.m.  There will also be two matinee performances on Dec. 14 and 21 at 2 p.m.

Baytowne on Ice is Open in Baytowne Wharf

Baytowne on Ice is back. From November 1, 2013 - February 2, 2014, Baytowne on Ice in Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort will be open for business. For the locals and visitors who miss the cold and ice, skating at Baytowne on Ice in The Village of Baytowne Wharf is the perfect opportunity to get into the winter spirit. The seasonal ice skating rink has become a local holiday favorite. For $11 guests can skate for an hour and a half. Skate rental is available for $2.

South Walton Real Estate Report for Oct 2013

The latest real estate report for October 2013 in Walton County shows some interesting statistics compared to the same month last year - cash sales are up and so is inventory. It's been awhile since we've seen inventory rise compared to the same month compared to the previous year. Not really surprising given the number of sellers who see a hot market and are looking to cash in, also the high amount of building and spec homes under construction.

Local Architect and Builder Team Up for Their Seventh Cottages For Kids

Davis Dunn Construction and Studio A Architecture's Andrea J. Plunk have teamed up for their 7th Cottages for Kids fundraiser. Every year the team has created fun and imaginitive cottages for a good cause. This year their creation is entitled Live it Up. The enchanting cottage has taken up residence on the East Long Green in Rosemary Beach.

“It’s a great program to help local kids, and it inspires kids to use their imagination too,” Andrea says.
