South Walton Artificial Reef Association Hoping to Hit the Water in 2014

As a local diver and environmentalist, Andy McAlexander was more than a little concerned following the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster. He observed the aftermath of the BP Oil Spill as Walton County business owners struggled to stay afloat. His thoughts turned to better days and solutions to help get the local economy back on track. Escape to Create Celebrates 23rd Season of Artists and Performances

Seaside’s Escape To Create artist residency launches its 23rd season with the arrival of six artists selected from an international pool of applicants for the renowned creative retreat.

The only artist residency of its kind in the Florida Gulf Region, "E2C" and the community of Seaside have welcomed artists to Scenic 30A since 1993. Drawing audiences from throughout the southeast, a variety of cultural programs showcasing the multi-disciplinary artists are offered throughout this January and February.

This invigorating event will surely get your blood flowing and for those that brave the winter waters, we will also be hosting a beach bonfire to help warm you up.

Take a First Day Hike at a Florida State Park on Jan 1

Walking on the beach can change your perspective. There's nothing better than being at the beach on the first day of a new year. First Day Hikes offered by Florida State Parks are a great way to get outside, exercise, enjoy nature and welcome the New Year with friends and family - or a solitary sojourn.
