Last year Ryan Pfneisel of Heritage Builders teamed up with The Merchants of Rosemary Beach for Cottages for Kids and created "Torre de Juego" (Tower of Play). This year he has teamed up with interior designer Vern Yip to create a cottage entitled "Kid Comfort". Vern designed it based on his Gulf view home Ryan just completed in Rosemary Beach.
Grand Boulevard’s fourth annual “Festival of Trees” will showcase 12 uniquely decorated Christmas trees from area non-profit organizations, Nov. 26 – Dec. 25 in Grand Park. The public is invited to attend the kick-off on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. as the trees are lighted, judged on their decorations and winners are announced at 6 p.m. A People’s Choice winner will be selected by the voting public that night as well.
Momentum is building for the highly anticipated New Year’s Eve Beach Ball Drop at Pier Park on December 31 with the announcement of the Southeast’s favorite party band, The Rupert’s Orchestra, to be part of the New Year’s Eve celebration.
On Saturday, November 30th, 2013, the WaterColor Community Association will host their 6th annual Old Florida Holiday and Winter Market from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m in WaterColor’s Town Center.
This will be an extreme holiday extravaganza complete with snow, carriage rides, bonfires, Santa, lighting of the tree, music, beautiful lighting around Town Center and of course a winter market full of gifts, sights, smells and tastes of the season. This event is open to WaterColor residents, guests and the public and is free of charge for attendees.
Families and friends, furry and otherwise, are invited to the Third Annual Rosemary Beach Unleashed event coming up on Sunday, Nov. 17. The community festival is a fun filled afternoon on East Long Green from 1 to 4 p.m. This year, dogs can participate in a variety of competitions such as children’s handling, best trick, dog fashion show, and agility demonstrations. Music, bake sale, children's dance performances, and photo opps will entertain one and all. Pet adoptions, pet-icures and "purr"fect tie-dye shirts are all part of the fun day in Rosemary Beach.
Over 100 fine artists from the Southeast and cities across the country gathered in Destin last month to exhibit and compete for $9,000 in cash prizes at the 18th Annual Festival of the Arts juried art show held at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village. Local artist Juan Franciso Adaro, originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina who now resides in Santa Rosa Beach, received the coveted "Best in Show" and $1,500 cash prize for his contemporary artwork.
Members of the Freeport High School Key Club rolled up their sleeves and built one of the Cottages for Kids on display in Rosemary Beach. This is the 3rd cottage the club has built and this year's cottage is titled “The Pirate Ship HHK” (healthy, happy kids).
Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is starting this holiday season with a special, sparkling event. The Village of Baytowne Wharf will be lit with holiday décor and cheer for Sparkling Wine and Holiday Lights, presented by the Sandestin Wine Festival on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 4 to 7 p.m.
The annual Flutterby Children’s Arts Festival is one of SoWal's funnest and most colorful festivals, and will once again be held at Rosemary Beach on Nov. 9-10, 2013. Presented by the Merchants of Rosemary Beach and the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA), the Flutterby Festival celebrates art, nature, and the migration of the Monarch Butterfly through the region.
We love the annual Cottages for Kids event, and the amazing display of creative playhouses in Rosemary Beach throughout the month of November! In its seventh year, Cottages for Kids is an annual "fun-raising" event for Children's Volunteer Health Network (CVHN), and a wonderful South Walton tradition for kids and families.
