October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and in honor of the international health campaign, Caliza in Alys Beach will present a special five course dinner by Chef Kevin Korman.  A cocktail hour with signature pink libations will precede the meal.  Dinner will be complimented by wine pairings and thoughtfully prepared with the ultimate in cancer-fighting ingredients.

The guest speaker will be Lisa Burwell, co-owner of VIE Magazine, and a breast cancer survivor herself.

Nine million children in the US live in food-insecure households.  Walton County is fortunate to have Food For Thought Outreach, Inc., a local charity dedicated to feeding hungry school children so they don’t have to worry where their next meal is coming from.

Sandestin Tennis is ready to serve the community with a fun event to help raise funds for breast cancer. Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort today announced its Annual Serve2Cure Tennis Tournament to be held this October 6 at the Sandestin Tennis Center in Destin, FL, from 8:30am to 2:00pm.

Back in 2005 the small crew at Children's Volunteer Health Network was hard at work starting up their organization and then Hurricane Katrina hit, forcing evacuation in many areas. Many locals had evacuated and returned, and many folks from the New Orleans area fled here. The already-scheduled, first fundraiser for CVHN became known as the Hurricane Party.

The Hurricane Party has grown in to a great tradition. The 8th annual edition is on September 21 in the heart of South Walton at Bud & Alleys in Seaside, with great food and fun entertainment.

The Cultural Arts Alliance is now accepting applications for those wishing to participate in this year’s Flutterby Children’s Arts Festival that will take place November 10 & 11 in Rosemary Beach.  Participants should be artists who specialize in original work for or by children or an organization that offers children’s services.  The CAA will provide a 10 x 10 space; we are looking to you to help fill it up! Golf enthusiasts will have the chance to hit the links with dozens of sports legends and other celebrities in the South Walton Celebrity Golf Classic November 1-3 at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.  Although this is the tournament’s 16th year, it marks the first time the event is being sponsored by Visit South Walton. Proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit Working Warriors, which serves the military community by working with corporate America to provide jobs and economic independence to our nation’s heroes.

Miss Julie is a naturalistic play written in 1888 by August Strindberg dealing with class,love, lust, the battle of the sexes, and the interaction among them.

The official results are in for our 2012 "You're So SoWal if..." contest!  We had so much FUNN reading all of the GRAYT entries! This year's submissions ranged from heartwarming to hilarious, emotional to whimsical, and of course some may be a bit controversial.

We're overwhelmed with the participation of so many SoWal beach lovers from near and far, and thank everyone so much for sharing what SoWal means to them, especially our loyal SoWal Forum members. 

Registration is now open for the popular half  marathon and 5K event, which will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013. This always sells out quickly so register now! 

Presented again by Vera Bradley, the Seaside Race attracts runners from around the country and is one of the signature fundraising  events for the Seaside School Inc., an award-winning public charter school in SoWal. 

The outdoor movie series at Seaside this summer was so successful, that they're continuing into the fall with four classic favorites. In the Seaside amphitheater, starting at 8:00pm, bring your low back chairs, blanket, and cooler and make it a family affair in the great outdoors. The September weather is perfect in SoWal and what better way to enjoy an evening outside than watching a great movie with friends and family. See the September schedule below:
