CVHN Changing Childrens' Lives with a Smile

Almost eight years ago, the first annual Hurricane Party was held to kick start Children's Volunteer Health Network (CVHN). Founder Tricia Carlisle-Northcutt's intention was to provide a way for all children to be healthy and happy, but she knew she needed the help and commitment of our entire community.

Since then, CVHN has provided thousands of our children with medical, dental, vision and mental health care. Who could have imagined the enormity of the need right here in South Walton?

Seaside Prize: Symposium, Award and Dinner February 1 & 2

The Seaside Prize is an award given to individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to the quality and character of communities. The Seaside Institute's founding board members came up with the idea of this award to acknowledge those who had made great strides in moving the new urban movement forward. Each year, the recipient of the award is recognized at a ceremony held in Seaside.

Attention Artists! CAA Accepting Applications for Top of the Class Juried Art Show

Start making art now! Entries for the Cultural Arts Alliance A+ Art Committee’s annual juried show, “Top of the Class” must be submitted by February 5, 2013. The show, presented by the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) in partnership with Northwest Florida State College, awards monetary prizes for the winning pieces of art. Artists may submit up to two entries of original art.

Girls Getaway Weekend at Rosemary Beach Loaded with Talent

Rosemary Beach Foundation has put together a great lineup for the 8th Annual Girls Getaway Weekend in Rosemary Beach Jan. 31-Feb. 3, including musical performances by professional singer/songwriters, chefs' cooking demonstrations, brunches, workshops and soirees. Between planned events, women can cruise around town on beach bikes, hit the local shops and restaurants or even enjoy a bonfire on the beach.

Tiffanie Shelton's journey of faith brought her to a point in life where she had to act. She knew there were families who needed help in our community and her faith fueled her desire to take action.

One day as she sat down with her pastor a thought occurred to her, “what if we just helped a couple of families as a church?” She thought she could do it out of her house, store food and maybe help five or six kids.

Escape to Create Celebrates 21st Season

Seaside’s popular Escape To Create artist residency launches its 21st season with the arrival of five artists selected from an international pool of applicants for the renowned creative retreat.

The only artist residency of its kind in the Florida Gulf Region, "E2C" and the community of Seaside have welcomed artists to Scenic 30A since 1993. Drawing audiences from as far as Tallahassee and Pensacola, a variety of cultural programs showcasing the multi-disciplinary artists are offered throughout January and February.

Cultural Arts Alliance Artist Snapshot - Margaret Biggs

The seas as well as the many gifts that come from the ocean world inspire Margaret’s paintings. Her work is both modern and realistic. It is imbued with her imagination, pushing the viewer to more closely observe the fascinating play of design that can be found in nature.

Margaret studied art at the University of Illinois at Chicago as well as The Evanston Art Center. Her full time practice of art was delayed however, by a long and exciting career in the fashion industry.
