2nd Annual Luminaria Run to Benefit Domestic Violence Center Dec 8

Shelter House, the domestic violence center serving Okaloosa and Walton counties, is hosting a unique twilight run that will shine the light on domestic violence in our community. The 2nd Annual Luminaria Run to End Domestic Violence will take place on Saturday, December 8, at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Starting and ending at Baytowne Marina, the course will be lined with more than 2,000 luminarias lighting the path for the runners.

Every Kid Deserves a Christmas Present So Join the South Walton Elf Ride on Dec. 9

Luke Thompson was only 10 when he started the Elf Ride tradition in South Walton. He did it to help local children by raising awareness of the local Angel Tree charity at the South Walton Fire District (SWFD). It was a grand idea, and now five years later Luke is 15 and also known as "The Grand Elf".

Harbor Docks Hosts 18th Annual Free Thanksgiving Day Dinner

One extraordinary day a year, Harbor Docks turns in their famous seafood menu for a Thanksgiving Day feast, an 18 year tradition to benefit Okaloosa Habitat for Humanity and Destin Harvest.
 
Friends and family, locals and tourists alike, will gather at the restaurant for this unforgettable event on Thursday, November 22, Thanksgiving Day from 11am till 7pm. Harbor Docks is located at 538 Highway 98 East in the heart of Destin.

 

Cottages for Kids Tours, Raffle & Auction Underway Now!

We love Rosemary Beach and Cottages for Kids. About the only thing better than watching kids play out-of-control on the beach is watching them crawl over, around, and through the incredible custom playhouses every year during Cottages for Kids.

Five cottages are on display and tours are open to the public on East Long Green on Scenic 30A in Rosemary Beach. Come out on Thanksgiving Day for some outdoor fun on the lawn and play in and all around the cottages! Purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win or make a donation.  

South Walton Fire District Offers "Home for the Holidays" Program

For the third year, South Walton Fire District (SWFD) is offering a "Home for the Holidays" program. This program is designed to allow patients in skilled nursing and adult living facilities to go home to be with family members for holiday dinner. Patients must be self-supporting while at the residence, and be left in the care of a responsible family member.

Caring & Sharing Angel Tree at South Walton Fire District Beginning November 9

The South Walton Fire District (SWFD) will continue its holiday tradition and sponsor the Caring and Sharing “Angel Tree” benefiting children ages 1 month to 12 years in Walton County.

“Angels” will be available for selection beginning Friday, November 9, 2012 from 9:00 a.m-4:00 p.m. at Station 3/Headquarters, 911 North County Highway 393, Santa Rosa Beach. This year the Fire District will receive over 300 angel names from our friends at Caring and Sharing of North and South Walton.

The Witches of South Walton Ride Again October 31

Rather than howling at the moon, a coven of women called the Witches of South Walton will wake at the break of dawn on Halloween morning to mount bikes, not broomsticks.

More than 60 “SoWal women in witchy garb will meet on their festively-decorated bikes at Miss Lucille’s Gossip Parlor at 7 am in Gulf Place on Scenic 30A to ride 4.4 miles to Butler Elementary and back.
