The Witches of South Walton Ride Again October 31

Rather than howling at the moon, a coven of women called the Witches of South Walton will wake at the break of dawn on Halloween morning to mount bikes, not broomsticks.

More than 60 “SoWal women in witchy garb will meet on their festively-decorated bikes at Miss Lucille’s Gossip Parlor at 7 am in Gulf Place on Scenic 30A to ride 4.4 miles to Butler Elementary and back.

CVHN Dental Clinic now serving children who quality for Medicaid

In its seventh year of serving the community, Children's Volunteer Health Network is continuing to expand its mission of enhancing the lives of uninsured and underinsured school-aged children in Okaloosa & Walton Counties. As of September 2012, CVHN had facilitated more than 9,900 medical, dental, vision and mental health care procedures since inception in 2005 and has now taken another step toward serving more children in the community. The CVHN Dental Clinic in Santa Rosa Beach, which opened in April 2012, will now be seeing children who qualify for Medicaid. 
 

FPRA Luncheon Features Seaside Founders at Bud & Alley's October 23

The Northwest Florida Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) will hold its monthly luncheon meeting at Bud & Alley’s at 11:30am - 1:00pm on Tuesday, October 23, 2012. The featured speakers will be Robert and Daryl Davis, the founders of Seaside. The Davis’ will speak about how they sold the idea of Seaside from a PR perspective.

Luminaria Run at Sandestin to Benefit Shelter House December 8

Shelter House Domestic Violence Center and Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort are teaming up for the 2nd Annual Luminaria Run at 5 pm on Saturday, December 8. The course will be lined with more than 2,000 luminarias, lighting the path for the walkers/runners and representing how Shelter House and its community partners light the way to a safer place for victims of domestic violence in Okaloosa and Walton counties.     

Sacred Heart Gets “Down” for Breast Cancer Awareness

There were pink wigs, tutus, crazy hats, feather boas and some pretty impressive dance moves. Even Santa flew in for the occasion. Although they weren’t “Dancing in the Street,” they were dancing in the hall, the OR, the lab and even the chapel! The associates, physicians and volunteers at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast have been putting on quite a show for Medline’s Second Annual National Pink Glove Dance Video Competition. Nearly 200 participants have put on pink gloves and danced to "Down" by singer-songwriter Jay Sean for Sacred Heart’s Pink Glove Dance Video.

 

Habitrot For Humanity Half Marathon and 5K October 6 at Sandestin

 Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, the #1 Resort on Florida’s Emerald Coast, will host the 2nd Annual Habitrot for Humanity, a half marathon and 5k race this Oct. 6, to benefit Habitat for Humanity.   

Sandestin invites running and walking enthusiasts to enjoy the beautiful weather and scenic trails throughout the beautiful 2,400 acre resort. Participants will be able to soak in views including the Gulf of Mexico, Choctawhatchee Bay, beautifully manicured golf courses, ponds, nature and so much more.
