Join the Park Ranger for an informative tour of Grayton Beach State Park’s Wet Prairie Restoration areas May 17 at 10am.

Learn the importance of these areas, which endangered plants call them home, and how titi trees impact the hydrology and flora of these areas. The ranger will discuss the importance of the Prescribed Fire program at Grayton Beach State Park, explaining how fire is a necessity for habitat restoration, wildlife management, and decreasing loading fuels to help with the prevention of wildfires.

Join Park Services Specialist Jeff Talbert at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park for a Sunset/Night Hike Jun 19 at 7pm.

Watch a South Walton sunset on the beach, learn about rare coastal dune lakes, and encounter wildlife during a one mile hike along a paved trail. Jeff will discuss the various ecosystems while pointing out native flora and fauna. After sunset, watch as the stars emerge in the sky. Bring a flashlight, water, and wear closed toe shoes. The 1 mile hike should take about 1.5 hours, dependent on audience participation.

Get acquainted with the local flora and fauna as you enjoy a guided tour of the Native Plant Demonstration Garden and Trail at Northwest Florida State College (South Walton Center) on Wednesdays at 3pm all summer long.

Join the South Walton Community Council for a presentation on Lake Powell May 22 at 7pm at the Coastal Branch Library. Emily Ellis, photographer and nature expert, will discuss Lake Powell's history, scenic vistas, and waterscapes, followed by a deluge of imagery depicting indigenous flora and fauna. The presentation will conclude with an overview of recreation, preservation, conservation, and activism. John Mark Turner and Scott Crompton have been playing together for over 20 years. As the guitars of BLUES OLD STAND, they have toured around the world with other various artists and collaborations.
 
In 2011, Scott opened BLADE STUDIOS with business partner Brady Blade (Dave Matthews & Friends, Emmy Lou Harris, Bob Dylan and others) and has served as a session player on numerous records to date with Brady and playing with the famed HALLELUJAH TRAIN band.
