Walton County Florida Real Estate Report for April 2019

The most recent SoWal Real Estate Report covers all of Walton County including South Walton real estate activity for April 2019, with statistics for single family homes, townhomes, and condos in Walton County, Florida.

Single family homes closed sales were up 11.6% for April 2019 compared to the same month last year. The number of pending sales for Walton County was up 9.2%. Inventory was down 2%. Median sales price was down 1.1%. Dollar volume increased 2.9% over last year at $181 Million.

Sacred Heart & St. Joe Company Break Ground at Watersound Origins

Sacred Heart Health System, part of Ascension Florida, has officially begun construction of a healthcare facility in the Watersound Origins community in eastern SoWal, in collaboration with Commercial Real Estate Development, LLC, a subsidiary of the St. Joe Company.

The new healthcare facility broke ground on May 28 and will be at the entrance of Watersound Origins, 20 miles east of Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. The St. Joe Company is a Northwest Florida-based real estate developer known for its planned communities.

Gina Shiflett, the intrepid owner of Salon Twist in Seagrove, was returning home to South Walton from a three-week journey across India.

Her backpack in tow, bags overstuffed, back aching ... she plopped down beside a petite lady in an overcrowded Indian airport and asked, “Do you speak English?”

The lady replied, “Yes, I do!”

“In ten minutes, I probably knew more about her than I knew about my best friend,” exclaims Gina. “And she’s showing me pictures of everybody and thanking me profusely for my time.”

On Wednesday, May 22, the Justin Gaffrey Gallery invites the community to an opening reception for Gaffrey’s latest collection of paintings titled “LIFE STILL”.
