Walton County Florida Real Estate Report for July 2015

The latest real estate report for July 2015 includes statistics for single family homes in Walton County, Florida. It looks like beach lovers were on the beach instead of the closing room. Closed sales were up just 5% for July compared to the same month last year. June 2015 closed sales were up 28% over June 2014.

The increase in closed sales was one of the smallest increases in awhile. And yet it was an increase, which continues the record hot streak for SoWal real estate. A statistic that jumps out is average sales price, which leaped 27%, as inventory continues to dwindle.

Be Well at Salon Twist

A car accident is never a good thing, but life has a funny way of showing us opportunities, and they’re often hidden in some form of tragedy.

When a near fatal car accident left Gina Shiflett, owner of Salon Twist, temporarily paralyzed, her life took a major turn. Though she regained mobility within hours, Gina felt compelled to take a hard look at everything she thought she knew and make a change for the better.

Food, Folks & Fun: Lunch Hour at The Red Bar

South Walton is a food lover's paradise, and the SoWal crew takes advantage daily. Nearing lunchtime last Tuesday we had just visited Amy Huff of Fashionably Late. After a quick interview and photos at her new boutique at Uptown Grayton, we were starving and our creative juices were flowing. We did the usual, “Where do y’all want to go for lunch?” It's an easy decision when you're so close to "downtown" Grayton and The Red Bar.

Food For Thought Back to School Food Drive Aug. 20

Food For Thought Outreach expects to serve over 1,200 students each week through its backpack program during the 2015-2016 school year - a significant 56% increase from last school year’s 770 students enrolled in the program. Every month, Food For Thought sends over 50,000 food items out to help battle food insecurity in Okaloosa and Walton counties. Add the year-to-year growth to the increased demand for assistance from Food For Thought’s summer outreach programs, and that can empty a warehouse very quickly.
