Seaside’s Escape To Create (E2C) artist residency launches its 24th season with the arrival of eight artists selected from an international pool of applicants for the renowned creative retreat. During their residency artists, authors, filmmakers, playwrights, and musicians will bring a little magic to the South Walton community.
Grand Boulevard’s fifth annual “Festival of Trees” will showcase 12 uniquely decorated Christmas trees from area non-profit organizations, Nov. 25 – Dec. 25 in Grand Park. The public is invited to attend the kick-off on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., as the trees are lighted, judged on their decorations and winners are announced at 6 p.m. A People’s Choice winner will be selected by the voting public that night as well.

Shelter House presented its 4th Annual Luminaria Run to End Domestic & Sexual Violence on Dec. 6 in Destin. The 5k and 9k courses were illuminated by more than 2,000 luminarias, representing how Shelter House and its community partners light the way to a safer place for victims of domestic and sexual violence. The 9k distance serves as a reminder that a woman is assaulted or beaten every nine seconds in the U.S.
Sinfonia Gulf Coast is one of only 163 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Challenge America grant. Sinfonia Gulf Coast is recommended for a $10,000 grant to support its January 23, 2015 performance of the world premiere of American composer Nico Muhly's electric violin concerto "Seeing is Believing," featuring award-winning electric violinist Tracy Silverman.

There's no prettier setting to let your artist soul soar than the Bayou Arts Center on Hogtown Bayou! The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) offers a dynamic collection of workshops throughout the year called “CAA’s Workshop Wave.” Most half-day classes are $30 for CAA members and $35 for non-members. Most full day classes are $60 for members and $70 for non-members. All classes are open to the public to reserve.
Shelter House received one of two grants in the amount of $125,000 awarded by Impact 100 of Northwest Florida. The domestic and sexual violence center will use the grant to purchase a new building that will house its main Program Office in Fort Walton Beach and increase the agency's capacity to serve the community.
