In attempt to prove Mr. Andersen wrong, let me tell you about what I consider to be the greatest musical event to ever grace the coast of Northwest Florida and the lasting effects it’s had on our company and myself.
Have a Holly, Jolly Christmas at The Village of Baytowne Wharf with a calendar of fun-filled events throughout the month of December. Baytowne is a wonderful place to enjoy holiday shopping, dining and entertainment with friends and family, and this season they're featuring live music performances by local bands, twinkling light shows, a holiday lantern parade and a New Year's Countdown to ring in 2015. Sinfonia Gulf Coast will present its popular annual holiday concert “Orchestral Holiday” on Friday, December 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Destiny Worship Center. This year’s performance features the world-beloved The von Trapps performing alongside Sinfonia Gulf Coast.
Discover plenty of things to do in South Walton and along the coast during the week of Thanksgiving! Locals are traveling to see family or staying home and likely having family and friends visiting for the holiday. Visitors are flocking to the beach from all over the Southeast and beyond.. and taking over the grocery stores! Either way, this is a busy week along Scenic 30A and all along the Emerald Coast.
Beach Arts Coalition presents Chili Vibrations Reggae Festival, featuring a chili cook off and some of today's biggest names in Reggae, Friday, Nov. 14 – Sunday, Nov. 16 at Aaron Bessant Park Amphitheater in Panama City Beach, next to Pier Park.
The Northwest Florida Symphony Chorale will present portions of Handel’s Messiah along with Messe de Minuit pour Noël (Midnight Mass for Christmas) at a free concert Friday, November 21 at 7:30 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Niceville. The Chorale, soloists, and instrumentalists from the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by NWF State College music professor Lois Henry.
This November the Northwest Florida Ballet (NFB) will once again grace the stage with visions of dancing sugar plums, graceful snow flurries, and magical dolls in its 35th annual presentation of The Nutcracker Nov. 21-23, 2014. This year’s production will feature live orchestral accompaniment provided by Sinfonia Gulf Coast.
SoWal locals love the off season at Stinky's Fish Camp in Dune Allen Beach! It's time to get out and enjoy some of the best live music right here at Stinky's every week. Weekly performances will take place Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Stinky's is known to plan a special party or two in the off-season with live music from New Orleans friends and musicians so make sure to check the Live Music Calendar on SoWal.com.
Heather Maloney takes the stage at The Rep on Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. The American singer-songwriter has received numerous accolades for her soulful voice and literate songwriting exploring themes of spirituality, transformation, and impermanence. Critics are quickly discovering Maloney’s talent with No Depression raving “Her music is riveting, her voice adventurous, her lyrics thought-provoking…” while Blurt Magazine wrote “Heather Maloney is one of the most talented tradition-based singer-songwriters I've heard in some time…the writing is stunning."
